Plural Paper Components Patents (Class 428/154)
  • Patent number: 10422083
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a decorative tissue product, while controlling tensile degradation in a predicable fashion. The foregoing properties may be achieved using differential depth embossing in conjunction with an embossing pattern having particular characteristics. The use of an engraved roll, such as an embossing roll, having protuberances of differing depths and patterns not only improves the properties and characteristics of the fibrous structure, but may also be used to impart a unique pattern that provides the product with a distinctive look and is appealing to consumers. Generally the unique pattern results from a first set of protuberances having a first height and defining a first pattern and a second set of embossing elements having a second height and defining a second pattern, where the first height is greater than the second height.

The layer of waterproof film is attached to the top surface of the tissue. The bottom surface of the waterproof film is configured so that it has less resistance to bursting under hand pressure than the top surface of the film. Hand pressure applied to the film is capable of causing the bottom surface of the film surrounding the pocket to burst while the top surface of the film remains intact. This causes the liquid within the at least one pocket to escape through the bottom surface of the film to moisturize the length of tissue, thereby forming a wet wipe like article which has a wet lower surface and a dry upper surface.

Abstract: An embossed sheet is composed of at least a first and a second ply of creped tissue having a basis weight between 12 and 30 g/m2 according to which the first ply has a first embossed pattern composed of a series of first aligned protrusions of frustoconical overall shape, the tops of which are oriented towards the inside of the sheet, and the second ply has a first and a second series of protrusions, the tops of which are oriented towards the inside of the sheet, the second series having a height greater than that of the first series of protrusions. The protrusions of the first ply and the highest protrusions of the second ply are nested inside one another, and the lowest protrusions of the second ply are arranged between the protrusions of the first ply so as to create empty spaces between the two plies and promote a rapid absorption of liquid.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for producing a deep-nested embossed paper product comprising the steps of delivering one or more plies of paper to an embossing apparatus and embossing the one or more plies of the paper between two opposed embossing cylinders. The one or more plies of paper have a first direction and a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction where both the first and second directions are in the plane of the paper and the one or more plies of paper have a stretch characteristic in the first direction that is higher than the stretch characteristic in the second direction.

Abstract: A sheet product dispenser and method of operation is provided. The sheet product dispenser records usage data and stores the data on a storage device. A dispenser controller uses the usage data to create a model that is used to determine a predicted depletion date. The depletion date is provided as feedback to an operator to allow the operator to more efficiently dispatch maintenance personnel. In one embodiment, the feedback is in the form of a display on the front of the dispenser that displays the predicted depletion date.

Abstract: A cut or precut absorbent sheet intended in particular for wiping, includes at least two plies or groups of plies of creped absorbent paper with a basis weight ranging between 12 and 35 g/m2 per ply, at least one of the plies having an embossed pattern made up of protrusions directed towards the inside of the sheet and forming cavities between them. Some of the protrusions are distributed over at least one of the plies in such a way as to define portions of curves which in particular form concentric circles around or near the geometric center of the outline of the sheet; and the set of protrusions belonging to one ply of the sheet forms alignments which constitute an embossed pattern with central symmetry with respect to the geometric center of the outline of the sheet.

The pleated sheet material has a weight in the range from about 30 to 50 pounds and the planar sheet material is preferably tissue paper having a weight of less than about 20 pounds. The pleated sheet material preferably, has a pleat angle in the range from above 45 degrees to below 85 degrees, and most preferably the pleats have an angle of about 50 to 65 degrees. Preferably, the pleats have a height in the range from about 3 sixteenths of an inch to about one half inch, in terms of distance between top planar sheet and bottom planar sheet.

Abstract: The aim of the invention is to create an embossing device for at least two-layered planar products such as toilet paper, tissues, or similar, which makes it possible to easily make high-quality planar products that are provided with decorative patterns. Said aim is achieved by an embossing device for at least two-layered planar products such as toilet paper, tissues, and similar, comprising at least one first and at least one second couple of rollers, each of which is composed of an embossing roller and a squeezer. The embossing roller of the first couple is provided with a plurality of embossing points at a number of about 20 to 70 per cm2, preferably up to about 45 per cm2, said embossing points being evenly distributed across the entire embossing area of the embossing roller, in order to create a planar microembossed design on at least one layered web. The embossing roller of the second couple encompasses first and second areas that are distributed across the embossing area thereof.

Abstract: Spirally wound single-ply web products having a chemical additive applied to at least one surface exhibit desirable roll bulk characteristics and softness properties. The rolled products can be made from a single-ply tissue web formed according to various processes. Once formed, the web is subjected to a shear-calendering device that increases the Fuzz-On-Edge properties of the web and preserves the bulk of the web when wound. The shear-calendered web then has a chemical additive applied to at least one surface by a non-compressive application method helping to maintain the Fuzz-On-Edge properties of the web.
