Patent number: 5002817Abstract: There is disclosed a form liner having a thickness no greater than 0.5 inch and having planar dimensions of approximately 2 feet by 4 feet, with one of its planar surfaces having a molded negative impression of a desirable surface relief pattern for a concrete wall. The form liner is manufactured by processing pre-formed sheets or panels of expanded plastic foam, typically expanded polystyrene foam. These stock panels are obtained in approximately 3/8 inch thickness and a positive pattern of the desired relief is pressed into the panel under sufficient heat, about 200 degrees F. and pressure, about 2500 psi, to mold one of the smooth surfaces of the panel into a negative impression of the desired surface relief pattern. The molding can be accomplished in a standard compression equipment with cycle times of approximately ten seconds. This permits the inexpensive and facile manufacture of these panels at sites removed from the polystyrene foam expander plant.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1990Date of Patent: March 26, 1991Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 4769278Abstract: In this resilient multi layered member, there are provided as laminated together: a surface skin layer, formed of PVC resin powder made into a gel, on the outside side of the resilient multi layered member; a foam material layer, formed from foamed PVC resin powder, the outer side of which is adhered to the inner side of the surface skin layer; a cushion material layer, the outer side of which is adhered to the inner side of the foam material layer; and a substantially stiff core material layer, the outer side of which is adhered to the inner side of the cushion material layer, on the inside side of the resilient multi layered member. There may be further included an adhesive layer by means of which the outer side of the cushion material layer is adhered to the inner side of the foam material layer. The cushion material layer may be formed from urethane foam, or from non woven fabric, which may be a felt material, and may have a density greater than about 200 grams per square meter.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1987Date of Patent: September 6, 1988Assignee: Kasai Kogyo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomohisa Kamimura, Noriyoshi Suzuki, Takashi Imaizumi

Patent number: 4766025Abstract: A composite molded article and a method of fabricating such an article is disclosed, which is especially well-suited for forming one-piece interior vehicle panels, by way of a single molding operation, wherein the one-piece interior panel can be easily installed as a unit within the vehicle. In the fabrication of the one-piece molded composite article, a deformable sheet material, such as vinyl, is positioned on a female molding surface and drawn into conformity with the female molding surface of the mold cavity, either with or without preheating or vacuum forming. The mold apparatus is closed and a first moldable material is introduced into the mold assembly, with certain predetermined portions thereof being blocked off. Subsequently, a second moldable material is introduced at least into the predetermined areas previously blocked off during the introduction of the first moldable material.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1986Date of Patent: August 23, 1988Assignee: Sheller Globe Corp.Inventors: John L. Patent number: 4764408Abstract: A baffle for a liquid container, such as a vehicle gasoline tank or the like, is formed of a resilient, cellular foam plastic material placed within the container. The cells of the plastic are interconnected, and the volume of the solid material forming the foam plastic is only a minor portion of the overall volume of the material including its open cells. The plastic material is tightly compressed into a long strip which is surrounded by a casing formed of a thin sheet. The plastic material is chemically inert relative to the liquid, but the casing sheet is substantially soluble in the liquid. A predetermined length section of the strip may be inserted in a container. When liquid is poured into the container, the casing is substantially dissolved to free the compressed material, which resiliently expands to substantially fill the container and form a cellular baffle therein.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1988Date of Patent: August 16, 1988Assignee: Foamade Industries, Inc.Inventors: Donald R.
