Translucent Layer Comprises Natural Oil, Wax, Resin, Gum, Glue, Gelatin Patents (Class 428/205)
  • Patent number: 6568148
Abstract: The present disclosure involves a covering element for building surfaces and a method for the production thereof. The covering element includes a decorative visible side generally having a support plate having top and bottom surfaces, an upper transparent face sheet bonded to the top surface of the support plate, and a lower face sheet bonded to the bottom surface of the support plate. The upper face sheet has a support layer having cellulose in which an abrasion-resistant material is embedded in the form of corundum particles. In the present configuration, a decorative layer is applied to the bottom of the support layer by a color printing process. The decorative layer, which is underneath the support layer, is visible after all the layers have been pressed together under the application of heat. This process causes it to become transparent. The support layer and the decorative layer are covered with bonding material having melamine resin.

Abstract: Laminated adhesive-backed color-correction and light-diffusion filters are comprised of a gel layer having a desired light wavelength characteristic, one face of which is affixed by means of an optically transparent adhesive to an optically transparent supporting substrate. The other side of the supporting substrate is fixed, by means of an optically transparent adhesive layer, to an optically transparent peelable protective film. This process is done in such a way that no distortion, irregularities, or imperfections are detectable on any surface, allowing clear visual inspection and full color-corrective quality. Moreover, more than one such filter can be combined to achieve unique results.

Abstract: A receptor medium with a sheet having an optically transmissive microembossed imaging surface as one major surface thereof. The receptor medium can receive jettable materials, which include inks, adhesives, biological fluids, chemical assay reagents, particulate dispersions, waxes, and combinations thereof. The microembossed medium unexpectedly solves such common inkjet printing problems as feathering, banding, and mudcracking in inkjet printing systems by controlling how an inkjet drop contacts and dries on an inkjet receptor medium and also Moire' effects but also provides sufficient optical transmissivity to be useful as overhead transparency media, backlit signage, and the like. Clear lines of demarcation between adjoining colors of a pigmented inkjet image graphic can be obtained without creation of the Moire' effects. Methods of making and using the inkjet receptor medium are also disclosed.

Abstract: A self-wound, self-adhesive, resealable tamper-evident tape is provided. The tape is used to seal any container requiring a self-adhesive closure, such as bags or pouches, and provides clear visual evidence if the self-adhesive seal is peeled apart. The tape comprises a backing sheet, the upper surface of which is coated with a release layer, and the bottom surface with an adhesive. The release layer is relatively non-adherent to the adhesive so that the tape may be wound or rolled up without a separating liner. A non-visible patterned varnish layer is applied to the adhesive to create a hard surface onto which an colored ink layer is subsequently applied. The colored ink layer breaks or chips when the self-adhesive seal is peeled apart and retains this appearance if the tape is reapplied to seal the container, thereby providing visible evidence of tampering.

  • Patent number: 5409753
Abstract: A removable and reusable publication marker for use in placing an emphasis on significant segments of text, most particularly, specific chapters and verses of the bible. The markers are of nominal thickness and are fabricated from transparent plastic materials of varying colors so as to not impede with the legibility of the bible text. The markers have a light adhesive backing which permits the same to be applied to a page adjacent a desired segment of text and which permits the same to be easily removed from the page and reused if desired. Each color may correspond with a particular area or topic of study. The markers are removably attachable to one or more release sheets. When not in use, the release sheets are retained in an storage pocket which, in turn, is inconspicuously attachable to a the printed publication. The pocket may be provided with a color chart associating the various colored markers with corresponding topics.

  • Patent number: 5397636
Abstract: A hybrid laminated prepreg is disclosed, which comprises a resin layer, a decorative layer laminated thereon and having a pattern, and a transparent prepreg layer laminated on the decorative layer. In manufacturing a fiber reinforced composite resin material molding, the hybrid prepreg is laminated in a couple of layers on the outermost one of laminated layers of usual prepreg. Thus, it is possible to easily decorate the obtainable molding to readily provide an aesthetic sense to the appearance of the molding and also dispense with time-consuming operation of coating or the like. Further, unlike the coating or the like, it is possible to stably hold the aesthetic sense of the appearance for long time.

  • Patent number: 5330824
Abstract: An image protecting film useful for protecting an image recorded on a porous recording medium by an ink jet recording system, which film comprises a light transmitting non-porous support and a layer composed mainly of a polyester resin formed on the support, said polyester resin being a copolymer comprising aliphatic dicarboxylic acid units, aromatic dicarboxylic acid units and aliphatic polyol units. Also disclosed is an image protecting method which comprises overlaying the above image protecting film on a porous recording medium having an image recorded thereon, so that the layer composed mainly of the polyester resin is in contact with the recording medium, followed by hot press bonding. The image protected by the image protecting film and the image protecting method of the present invention is excellent in the light resistance, the water resistance and the color development.
