Abstract: First, a mixture of a polytetrafluoroethylene fine powder and a liquid lubricant into a sheet-form body extending in a first direction. Next, the liquid lubricant is removed from the sheet-form body. Then, the sheet-form body is stretched by a factor of 40 to 250 in the longitudinal direction at a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point of polytetrafluoroethylene, and the stretched sheet-form body is further stretched by a factor of 3 to 40 in the width direction. Thus, a highly air-permeable porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane is obtained.

Abstract: This invention provides an Si doped GaAs single crystal ingot, which has a low crystallinity value as measured in terms of etch pit density (EPD) per unit area and has good crystallinity, and a process for producing the same. An Si-doped GaAs single crystal wafer produced in a latter half part in the growth of the Si doped GaAs single crystal ingot is also provided. A GaAs compound material is synthesized in a separate synthesizing oven (a crucible). An Si dopant is inserted into the compound material to prepare a GaAs compound material with the Si dopant included therein. The position of insertion of the Si dopant is one where, when the GaAs compound material is melted, the temperature is below the average temperature. After a seed crystal is inserted into a crucible for an apparatus for single crystal growth, the GaAs compound material with the Si dopant included therein and a liquid sealing compound are introduced into the crucible.

The invention utilizes the self-formation of periodic, supramolecular pillar arrays (49) in a melt to form the patterns. The self-formation is induced by placing a plate or mask (35) a distance above the polymer films (33). The pillars bridge the plate and the mask, having a height equal to the plate-mask separation and preferably 2-7 times that of the film's initial thickness. If the surface of the mask has a protruding pattern, the pillar array is formed with the edge of the pillar array aligned to the boundary of the mask pattern.
