  • Patent number: 6572944
Abstract: A structure for protecting a special-purpose area of an image sensor die or a micromachine die during singulation of the die from a wafer includes a protective layer that has a polymerized upper zone and an unpolymerized lower zone. At least part of the unpolymerized lower zone has an adhesive lower surface that is attached to a top surface of the wafer so that the protective layer overlies and protects the special-purpose area during either frontside or backside sawing. The unpolymerized lower zone is then entirely polymerized to make the adhesive lower surface nonadhesive to facilitate removal of the protective layer from the die.

Abstract: A fusible non-woven fibrous web for a quilt batt. The fusible non-woven fibrous web includes a non-woven fibrous web and a heat sealable and releasable adhesive. The adhesive is coated on the outer surface of the web and insinuates between the fibers of the web internally. The adhesive thus binds the fibers of the web and provides a tackiness sufficient to allow the web to be applied to, removed from, and reapplied to a backing material on other fabric.

  • Patent number: 6565697
Abstract: A method of making a pressure sensitive adhesive article includes depositing a layer of liquid adhesive material onto a substrate, and depositing a layer of non-adhesive liquid material onto the liquid adhesive material, wherein the non-adhesive liquid material covers only a portion of the liquid adhesive layer. The liquid layers can be cured which allows winding the article onto a spool. The pressure sensitive adhesive article includes a substrate with a liquid adhesive layer deposited onto the substrate. At least one liquid non-adhesive structure is deposited onto a portion of the liquid adhesive layer, and the structure can have a theoretical angle of contact with the adhesive layer which is greater than 0°.

Abstract: A glue-applied resealable expanded content label includes a hinge portion, a release-reseal portion, a base ply having an under side and an upper side, and a top ply having an under side and an upper side. A first adhesive material is provided between the upper side of the base ply and the under side of the top ply at the hinge portion joining together the base ply and the top ply, thereby forming a hinge. A second adhesive material and a release coating are provided between the upper side of the base ply and the under side of the top ply at the release-reseal portion, wherein the release coating is substantially aligned with the second adhesive material when the label is sealed, thereby forming a release-reseal system. The second adhesive material is also provided about a perimeter of the label between the base ply and the top ply. A fugitive adhesive material may also be provided within the perimeter of the label. Such constructions alleviate warping, canoeing, blocking, and pillowing effects.

Abstract: A garment sealing tape or patch may be used to waterproof seams of or repair discontinuities in a wide variety of garments or other products, such as surgeon's gowns and firefighter's turnout coats, in a simple, inexpensive and long lasting manner with minimal smoke emission. The garment sealing tape or patch may include a first layer of a dimensionally stable heat reflecting film such as a polyurethane microporous film, and a second layer bonded to the first layer. The second layer is an uncured thermosetting polyurethane or polyester adhesive having a thickness between about 0.5-12 mils. The tape or patch may also comprise a third layer which is a fabric (such as a polyester tricot having a weight between about 0.7-2.5 ounces per square yard) adhesively bonded (e.g. by hot melt adhesive) to the heat reflecting surface of the film. The tape or patch may be applied by a laundry press or iron, or using an autoclave, to apply heat sufficient to thermoset the adhesive.
