  • Patent number: 5503927
Abstract: This invention relates to improved polymer-pressure sensitive adhesive combinations, particularly in the form of laminates, and methods of producing same. This invention improves the bond strength of the pressure sensitive adhesive to the polymer layer by priming the polymer surface with a curable urethane primer before applying the pressure sensitive adhesive to the polymer surface. If the polymer surface is not "active" to the curable urethane primer, the polymer surface is first activated with a silicon-containing treating agent. The laminates of this invention have superior bond strength, especially longterm bond strength. Of particular interest are the embodiments of this invention wherein the polymer is a silicone foam and the pressure sensitive adhesive is either acrylic or silicone adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5232755
Abstract: A laminated tube container has the body comprising a sheet material comprising a substrate, a silicon oxide deposited layer, a heat buffer layer and an extruded coating layer of a thermoadhesive resin which are successively formed in a laminate. The heat buffer layer prevents cracks from being produced in the silicon oxide deposited layer by the heat coming when the extruded coating layer of a thermoadhesive resin is laminated. The heat buffer layer is preferably formed by dry lamination or non-solvent lamination which requires no heating. An anchor coat layer may optionally be provided between the heat buffer layer and the extruded coating layer of a thermoadhesive resin so that the adhesion strength between these layers can be improved.

  • Patent number: 5229207
Abstract: A film composite has a thin flexible decorative backing bearing a layer of adhesive which affords good repositionability and yet can become permanently bonded to highly plasticized substrates such as vinyl films containing migratable monomeric plasticizers. Such substrates include wall coverings and vinyl coated fabrics. The adhesive is a blend of an acrylic latex adhesive and a heat-activatable urethane latex adhesive, which blend has been coated onto the backing from an aqueous emulsion. Useful backings include vinyl, polyurethane, and polyolefin films.

  • Patent number: 5212012
Abstract: The present invention describes a polymeric support film coated with a primer coating composition and overcoated with a silicone release coating, thereby forming a silicone release film. Silicone release films are well known and serve as temporary supports for an adhesive or tacky surface such as for labels, pressure sensitive tape, etc. The primer coating composition, before dilution with water, comprises from about 25 to 75% by weight of a glycidoxy silane and from about 75 to 25% by weight of a copolyester. The copolyester comprises from about 65 to 98 mol percent isophthalic acid; from about 0 to about 30 mol percent of at least one aliphatic dicarboxylic acid; from about 2 to about 20 mol percent of at least one sulfonate group attached to a dicarboxylic nucleus; and about 100 mol percent of glycol having from about 2 to 11 carbon atoms. Typical glycidoxy silanes that can be employed in the primer coating composition include glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane.

  • Patent number: 5209964
Abstract: A conductive sheet for shielding electromagnetic waves of this invention has high flexibility in the same direction as a wire. The conductive sheet 10, therefore, is easy to bend along the shape of the wire. Additionally, since conductive sheet 10 preferably maintains its shape in a direction perpendicular to the wire, it is possible to make a conductive link, that is, to make an electrical contact easily, only by applying slight pressure to conductive sheet 10 to change its shape. Moreover, since the metals composing the warp and the weft of the conductive sheet keep the potential difference of the metals below a predetermined voltage at the contact point of both metals, contact corrosion as a practical problem at the predetermined point is eliminated.
