Abstract: Various embodiments, aspects and features of the present invention encompass a wine glass stem spacer configured to be coupled to, and decoupled from, a stemmed glass. An exemplary wine glass stem spacer is in the general form of a foam or soft rubber cylinder having a height that is substantially equivalent to the depth of a typical cup holder cavity. A stem receiving cavity may be bored through the spacer along a vertical axis and a vertical stem insertion slit may be cut from the outer surface of the spacer to the stem receiving cavity, thereby providing for coupling of the spacer around the stem of a wine glass. Advantageously, when an embodiment of the spacer is coupled to the stem of a certain wine glass, the wine glass may be protected from tilting when placed in a cup holder cavity.

Abstract: Provided is a resin panel produced such that the positioning of a reinforcing material can be precisely done, rattling movement is prevented and distortion by molding shrinkage is not caused because the reinforcing materials are maintained in the foam. A resin panel is a hollow double-wall structure including a front wall, a back wall and a peripheral wall joining the front wall and back wall together. The peripheral wall of the resin panel has a welded part on its entire periphery. Within a hollow part is inner packed a foam made of a thermoplastic resin that is formed in advance in the substantially the same shape as the shape of the space within the hollow part. The foam is welded on the inner wall faces of the front wall and back wall of the resin panel. In the foam are formed accommodation parts for accommodating reinforcing materials. The reinforcing materials are lengthwise. The foam intervenes between the ends of both of the reinforcing materials and the peripheral wall.

Abstract: Insulation systems employing expansion features to insulate elongated containers subject to extreme temperature fluctuations, and related components and methods are disclosed. Elongated containers, such as pipes, tanks, vessels may have contents that need to be insulated to prevent heat exchange with the outside environment. Insulation systems are disposed along the perimeter of the elongated containers to prevent the heat exchange. In cases where the insulation systems are subject to extreme temperature fluctuations, components of the insulation may thermally expand and/or contract, and may form gaps between the components. Alternatively, damaging stresses may be formed as the thermal dimensional changes may be restricted as part of the installation. The insulation system comprises expansion features to better enable the gaps to be filled and relieve damaging stresses. In this manner, the elongated containers may be efficiently insulated even while subjected to extreme temperature fluctuations.

Abstract: A lightweight polyester preform is disclosed for the production of light weight polyester containers by blow molding. The preforms and the resulting blown containers have threads on an exterior surface adjacent an upper end. Adjacent to and located below the threads is a support ring. The support ring is used in handling and conveying a preform from injection molding to a blow mold and in blow molding the container from the preform. It also is used in handling and conveying the preform from storage to the blow mold. To lightweight the preform, and subsequent container, the support ring is designed to have a minimum weight, but a sufficient strength for the handling of the preform in the production of the blow molded container. The support ring is reduced in weight by about 10% to about 70% from a conventional preform support ring.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a blow-molded foam which has homogeneous foamed cells in size, is light in weight, and is excellent in surface smoothness, and a process for producing the same. The invention is directed to a blow-molded foam 1 having a wall portion formed in such a manner that a thermoplastic resin containing a foaming agent mixed therewith is subjected to blow molding. Herein, the wall portion has a closed cell structure in which a plurality of foamed cells are contained. The wall portion has an expansion ratio of not less than 2.0 times. The wall portion has an outer face having a center-line average surface roughness Ra of less than 9.0 ?m. The foamed cell has a cell diameter having a standard deviation of less than 40 ?m in a thickness direction of the wall portion.

Abstract: Systems and cold rotational molding methods are provided for making hollow, foam-backed polymeric molded articles. The molded articles can be manikins or manikin parts, or other articles, such as frames (e.g. for mirrors and pictures), urns, fixtures, furniture, display props, and garden furniture, made of a thermosetting elastomeric material. The articles are more structurally rigid than previous molded articles utilizing the same amount of polymer material, lighter in weight than previous molded articles having the same structural rigidity, and more resistant to deformation under temperatures up to 180 to 185.degree. F. The process of making a molded manikin part, from the first injection of polymer into the mold until demolding of the finished part, can be completed in as short a time as 18 minutes without the necessity for cradling of the demolded part, even when the part requires one or more flat surfaces.
