Publication number: 20120045603Abstract: The invention relates to a foamed fluoropolymer, preferably a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) structure, such as from Kynar® resins. The foamed structure is continuous self-supporting, sized, and has a dense skin. The foamed structure is manufactured in a process using foaming agents and nucleating agents. The structure is sized into a specific shape during the manufacturing process—requiring a good melt viscosity of the PVDF foam. In one process, a master batch containing the nucleating agent is used. The foamed article could be a sheet, film, profile, tube, pipe, article, rod foam-core structure, or other self-supporting shape. Foamed tubes, pipes, rods, sheets and conduit are especially useful. The foamed structure of the invention provides added value by being lighter weight, more flexible, and more impact resistant than a comparable non-foamed PVDF structure. It also has increased hysteresis, increased insulation properties, reduced dielectric constant, and increased compressibility.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2010Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: Arkema Inc.Inventors: Saeid Zerafati, Sean M. Publication number: 20120040122Abstract: A temporary part is fixed to a base by using an adhesive layer to which fillers are mixed at a predetermined density. When the temporary part is heated, heat is applied to the fillers and the adhesive layer. At a temperature equal to or higher than the glass-transition temperature of the adhesive agent, the heated adhesive layer is thermally contracted so as to release remaining stress, and on the other hand, the heated fillers are thermally expanded. In this manner, the peel-off strength between the adhesive layer and the base (or the temporary part) is reduced, and the disassembly is facilitated.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2011Publication date: February 16, 2012Inventors: Yoshio Oozeki, Satoshi Arai, Shigeharu Tsunoda, Taihei Yotsuya, Shizuo Imaoka

Patent number: 8046960Abstract: A window includes first and second panes and a frame coupled to the first and second panes to form an air gap there between. The window further includes an electrical generator disposed in the air gap configured to convert electromagnetic radiation to electricity. The window further includes a venting system configured to vent heat from the air gap away from the first pane or the second pane. The window further includes first and second reflective coatings respectively disposed on first surfaces of the panes. The first surfaces face the air gap, and the reflective coatings are configured to reflect infrared radiation into the air gap. The window further includes first and second antireflective coatings respectively disposed on second surfaces of the panes. The second surfaces face away from the air gap, and the antireflective coatings are configured to transmit visible light and infrared radiation into the air gap.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2009Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Inventor: Narinder Singh Kapany

Patent number: 8048351Abstract: A hose for use in bio-pharmaceutical applications includes an innermost tubular layer made from a fluoropolymer material. The tubular layer has an inner, relatively smooth and pure surface that defines an opening for transfer of various media. A layer of silicone is disposed next to an outer surface of the innermost tubular layer through use of, for example, an extrusion method. The outer surface of the tubular layer may first be modified by various treatments or chemicals to facilitate the adhesion of the silicone layer thereto. The silicone material may be solid or foamed. A reinforcement layer may be disposed adjacent to an outer surface of the silicone layer. The reinforcement layer may be formed of a wire braid having gaps. An outer jacket of silicone may be attached to the reinforcement layer and to the inner silicone layer through the gaps in the reinforcement layer.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2006Date of Patent: November 1, 2011Assignee: Swagelok CompanyInventor: Robert Bentley
