Publication number: 20090061224Abstract: A method of making string for string ribbon crystal provides a substrate having an outer surface, and extrudes refractory material over the substrate. The refractory material substantially covers the outer surface of the substrate. The method then cures the refractory material.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2008Publication date: March 5, 2009Applicant: EVERGREEN SOLAR, INC.Inventors: Christine Richardson, Lawrence Felton

Patent number: 7491664Abstract: The invention provides a wet friction material having high friction coefficient, excellent compression fatigue property and positive gradient of a ?-V property. The wet friction material contains a paper base material and a binder, in which the binder contains a cured material of a liquid resin composition obtained by mixing a hydrolyzed solution of a silane coupling agent represented by the following formula (1) and a resol-type phenol resin, and a weight ratio (S/R) between respective non-volatile components of the hydrolyzed solution (S) of the silane coupling agent and the resol-type phenol resin (R) is in the range of from 80/20 to 20/80: (X)(R1)nSi(OR2)3?n (1), in which X represents an alkylamino group having a primary amine at a terminal; R1 and R2 each independently represent an alkyl group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms; and n represents an integer of 0 or 1.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2006Date of Patent: February 17, 2009Assignee: NSK-Warner Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiro Mori, Hirokazu Yagi, Sousuke Kawai

Publication number: 20080299852Abstract: A sizing composition for reinforcement fibers that includes one or more film forming agents, a silane coupling agent package, and at least one lubricant surfactant is provided. Optional components such as rheology modifiers, fillers, biocides, and pH modifiers may also be included. Preferred film forming polymers are amide-based polymers. Additionally, the sizing composition is free of polyvinyl alcohol. The absence of polyvinyl alcohol in the size composition reduces or eliminates the production of precipitates from white water in wet-laid processes. The size composition is applied to reinforcement fibers and formed into chopped strand, wet-laid mats that can be used for a variety of purposes, including roofing products. Chopped strand mats formed from fibers sized with the inventive sizing composition maintains or improves the dry tear and tensile strengths compared to chopped strand mats made from fibers sized with a commercial sizing composition that does not contain polyvinyl alcohol.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2007Publication date: December 4, 2008Inventors: Jerry H. C. Lee, Dennis R. Brown, Timothy A. Miller, Timothy R. Gilbert

Publication number: 20080254292Abstract: Improved PVC filaments for use as wig material for toy dolls are described. PVC resin may be mixed with a stabilizing agent, lubricants, and a processing aid and pounded into PVC resin pellets. The PVC resin pellets may be subsequently spun or extruded in a conventional spin-draw machine. Undrawn PVC filaments are oil-coated and drawn at differential temperatures on a plurality of roller sets prior to heat-setting and being wound on a take-up unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2007Publication date: October 16, 2008Applicant: TY, INC.Inventor: Hwan Chul Kim
