Polyamide, Polyimide Or Polyester Patents (Class 428/395)
  • Patent number: 3940544
Abstract: An improved polyethylene terephthalate tire yarn is prepared by applying to the yarn a finish composition comprising a polyalkylene glycol compound having the formulaR--(O--R.sub.1 --O--R.sub.2).sub.n --OHin which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different lower alkylene units such as ethylene, propylene and so forth up to 5 carbon atoms, R is an alkyl group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and n has a value to produce a molecular weight of at least about 300; and about 5 to 35 parts per 100 parts, by weight, of said polyalkylene glycol compound of a triol compound having the formula: ##EQU1## WHEREIN R and R' are independently at each occurrence hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and r, s, and t are integers from 1 to about 20. This method of finishing the tire yarn results in an improved adhesion of the fiber to rubber.

  • Patent number: 3935370
Abstract: Flock fibers suitable for use in the manufacture of pile fabrics and materials by electrostatic flocking are treated to improve the electric conductivity of the fibers as well as enlarging the range of humidity in which the fibers retain good conductivity, flow, gliding and spring capacity characterstics. The process comprises treating the fibers, such as polyamides, polyesters, polyacrylonitriles and cellulose triacetate, with an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble alum, and tannin. In a preferred embodiment, the treating solution also includes a water-soluble alkali- or ammonium salt.

  • Patent number: 3932687
Abstract: A fibrous article having a suede-like surface is composed of numerous staple fiber bundle units mutually entangled with one another in a three-dimensional configuration. Each staple fiber bundle unit comprises a plurality of flexible and relatively movable synthetic organic ultrafine fibers having a substantially round cross-sectional profile, substantially the same fiber length, and lying axially along the longitudinal axis of the staple fiber bundle unit. Elastic bonding material is disposed around and spaced axially along the ultrafine fiber bundle units joining together adjacent ones of the ultrafine fiber bundle units at locations where they intersect with one another to jointly hold the entangled ultrafine fiber bundle units in their three-dimensional configuration while permitting slight relative longitudinal movement between the individual ultrafine fibers within each ultrafine fiber bundle unit.
