Abstract: A low-cost combined board without corrugated medium is disclosed that has enhanced surface properties and bending stiffness. In certain embodiments the combined board has a surface suitable for high quality printing and without the characteristic lines that are apparent on the surface of the conventional corrugated board. The combined board includes at least two paperboards adhered together by an adhesive formulation. The adhesive formulation may comprise one or more of an adhesive component, a foaming component, and filler. The adhesive may be a pattern of adhesive comprising strands of adhesive with a diameter range of about 2 points to about 20 points. When desired, the adhesive formulation may include a spacer component to control the distance between the paper board layers in the disclosed combined board. The adhesive may include hard fillers to further enhance the bending stiffness and reduce the adhesive cost.

Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for preparing a superhydrophobic surface on a solid substrate comprising the steps of (a) providing a solvent in the form of a pressurized fluid in a vessel, wherein the fluid exhibits a decrease in solvency power with decreasing pressure; (b) adding a hydrophobic substance to the solvent as a solute, which substance is soluble with the pressurized fluid and has the ability to crystallize/precipitate after expansion of the fluid, thereby obtaining a solution of the solvent and the solute in the vessel; (c) having at least one orifice opened on the vessel, thereby causing the pressurized solution to flow out of the vessel and depressurize in ambient air or in an expansion chamber having a lower pressure than within the vessel, the solute thereby forming particles; and (d) depositing the particles on the substrate in order to obtain a superhydrophobic surface.

Abstract: The invention relates to a laminate comprising two plastic films and in between a metal or metaloxide layer and a crystalline triazine layer, the laminate having a lamination strength of about 2 N/inch or more as measured in a 90 degree tensile testing at 30 mm/min. The invention further relates to a composite layer, comprising a metal or metal oxide, and a triazine layer comprising a triazine compound suitable for said laminate. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of a composite layer, comprising the step of applying a triazine layer on a substrate with a metal or metal oxide layer by vapour deposition of the triazine compound, wherein the process comprises (a) applying to the metal or metal oxide layer a compound other than a triazine compound, (b) vapour depositing the triazine compound on the metal or metal oxide layer while the compound is at least in part in a liquid state.

Abstract: A production process of a sequentially biaxially-oriented polyglycolic acid film, which includes Step 1 of stretching an amorphous polyglycolic acid sheet in one direction at a stretching temperature within a range of from 40 to 70° C. and a primary draw ratio of 2.5 to 7.0 times, thereby forming a uniaxially oriented film; Step 2 of causing the uniaxially oriented film to pass through within a temperature environment controlled to a temperature within a range of from 5 to 40° C. and lower by at least 5° C. than the stretching temperature in Step 1; Step 3 of stretching the uniaxially oriented film in a direction perpendicular to the stretching direction in Step 1 at a stretching temperature within a range of from 35 to 60° C. and higher by at least 3° C. than the temperature in Step 2, thereby forming a biaxially oriented film, the area stretch ratio of which is 11 to 30 times; and Step 4 of subjecting the biaxially oriented film to a heat treatment at 70 to 200° C.
