  • Patent number: 5290379
Abstract: A temporary sign panel is made by placing sheets of used newspaper on a flat surface to form a first layer, fixing two edges of the first layer to the surface, and covering the layer with a flour and water paste. A second layer of newspaper is placed on the first, with the sheets staggered so lines between sheets do not coincide. Two edges of the second layer are fixed to the surface, and the second layer is covered with flour and water paste. Next, a third layer of newspaper is placed over the second, staggered so no lines between sheets coincide. The paste is allowed to dry, then the panel is removed from the surface, and the entire panel is painted with an exterior grade of house paint. The resulting panel can be painted with the desired sign, and the panel is stiff enough for normal display.

  • Patent number: 5256463
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a phosphor screen used in a color CRT takes the steps of multilayering a red phosphor layer, a green phosphor layer, a blue phosphor layer, and a non-luminescent layer being laid between the adjacent color phosphor layer, cutting the multilayered block into filmy pieces toward the thickness, adhering or pressurizing the filmy cut pieces on a glass plate for front panel of the color CRT, and burning the cut pieces. This method makes it possible to efficiently manufacture a high-definition and high-resolution color phosphor screen and form fine RGB stripes. This method, thus, may apply to a small-sized CRT about which the realization of the high-definition and high-resolution color phosphor screen has been difficult.

  • Patent number: 5017415
Abstract: A marker tape for location of a buried conduit, having a plurality of electronic markers spaced thereon at predetermined intervals. The distance between the markers encodes information about the buried conduit. The tape may be a nonconductive ribbon or cord, and the markers are preferably passive circuits tuned to a specific frequency. The tape ribbon embodiment may include slots therein for receiving the markers. The markers may be oriented in a predetermined pattern to encode additional information.

  • Patent number: 5013595
Abstract: Stretch wrapping film is reinforced by means of an auxiliary band that is laminated to the stretch film, thereby obtaining improved effective film strength without requiring the use of heavy duty films. Propagating tears that do occur are arrested by the band. The band may be rendered visually distinctive by coloration or imprinting, to identify the load with which it is wrapped, and to enable one to locate the leading edge of the film on the roll.

  • Patent number: 4988550
Abstract: A masking tape for EMI shielding applications comprising an adhesive layer, a metal foil layer adhered to the top of the adhesive layer, two or more adhesive strips running parallel to the edges of the tape and extending the length of the foil along the strips are preferably inset from the outer edges of the foil so as to form a stepped or notch-like configuration. A mask layer is attached to the top of the strips. The mask alone or the mask and strips are designed to be removed after use. The tape is applied to a substrate such as a computer cabinet, the cabinet is then sprayed with a paint or finish coat and the mask is removed to reveal a conductive metal foil surface to which a conductive EMI shield can be mounted.

  • Patent number: 4983438
Abstract: A multi-ply form with labels and multiple form parts is provided, including first and second webs secured one to the other with repositionable adhesive. A plurality of different types of labels are permanently secured to the second web. At least one label of the second web registers with a die-cut portion in the second web and both the one label and die-cut portion register with a die-cut section of the first web. When the webs are separated, the die-cut section is adhered to the second web, enabling removal of the one label therefrom in a manner to provide securment to a surface using either repositionable adhesive or permanent adhesive. Additional holding power may be provided when using the repositionable adhesive by providing a further die-cut segment within the die-cut section of the first web whereby the area of application of the adhesive may be large or small, depending upon whether the die-cut section is removed or not. The first web also includes a second section forming a first form part.

  • Patent number: 4957797
Abstract: A roof lining structure in a motor vehicle includes a roof lining base member and a vibration-damping layer interposed between an upper surface of the base member and a lower surface of a roof panel of the motor vehicle. The roof lining base member comprises a support layer having a cellular structure, and a reinforcing layer disposed at least partly in the roof lining base member. The upper surface of the vibration-damping layer is held in intimate contact with the lower surface of the roof panel. The vibration-damping layer is bonded to the roof panel by an adhesive layer. The vibration-damping layer is made of a material having such a mechanical strength that the vibration-damping layer will be torn apart vertically with a tearing force weaker than the bonding strength of the adhesive layer.

Abstract: An elastomeric nonwoven absorbent web is provided. The web comprises a nonwoven fibrous matrix of elastomeric melt-blown small diameter fibers and absorbent staple fibers or absorbent particulate material, wicking staple fibers, and bulking staple fibers dispersed throughout the matrix. This web is particularly useful in an absorbent elastomeric wound dressing. The wound dressing has a fluid permeable, compliant, low adherency wound contacting layer, an intermediate conformable, fluid-absorbent element, i.e., the elastomeric nonwoven absorbent web, and a soft, compliant cover layer.

  • Patent number: 4937131
Abstract: A flexible, cushioning dunnage product producible on a converter mechanism from a roll of sheet-like stock material, such as biodegradable paper. As the stock material is pulled off the roll by the converter, the edges of the stock material are rolled inwardly to form pillow-like portions which are urged by the converter mechanism laterally inwardly with respect to one another into confronting abutting relation, with the pillow-like portions being then connected together along their engaged abutting sides by in the preferred embodiment, transversely extending coined sections extending transversely of the product and defining a generally central connecting portion running in a direction lengthwise of the product.

  • Patent number: 4929484
Abstract: Filling material for percolating filters for the treatment of liquid and process for producing and assembling the material. Especially in biological sewage treatment, filling material must provide the best possible hold for the biological filter film necessary for the purpose and must have uniform wettability. The disadvantage of known apparatuses meeting these requirements is that they either tend to clog or are difficult to produce. The new filling material will work effectively and reliably, while being simple to produce and assemble. To provide ideal growth surfaces for the biological filter film, the filling material has a plurality of plastic strips (20) which are connected to one another by means of a single holding sheet (21). Furthermore, the strips (20) have a special shape, in particular corrugated edges and/or a structured neutral region. The filling material is especially suitable for biological treatment, particularly the denitrification of sewage or drinking water.

  • Patent number: 4929486
Abstract: A cover tape for sealing chips in chip-holding parts of a carrier tape having said parts provided discontinuously and longitudinally of said carrier tape, which cover tape comprises a base tape, an adhesive layer formed on one surface of said base tape and a non-adhesive coat formed on said adhesive layer along the longitudinal direction of said base tape so that said non-adhesive coat has a width broader than that of the chips and narrower than that of said adhesive layer. When the cover tape is used in combination with the carrier tape, the chip-holding parts are sealed by the cover tape having the non-adhesive coat and in consequence the chips held in the chip-holding parts do not come in contact with the adhesive layer although they might come in contact with the non-adhesive coat. Accordingly, the chips are not stained by the adhesive in the adhesive layer.
