Abstract: The present invention relates to a protective film for electronic device. The protective film comprises a protective-film body and a first microstructure layer. The protective-film body has a first surface and a second surface. The first microstructure layer is disposed on the first surface of the protective-film body. The second surface of the protective-film body covers the surface of an electronic device. The hardness of the protective film is between 1 H and 12 H. Thanks to it high surface hardness, the protective film according to the present invention has superior wear and scrape resistance. Thereby, the life time of the protective film is extended and hence ensuring protection of the surface of the electronic device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for obtaining and displaying a collimated X-ray image are described. The methods can include providing an X-ray device having an X-ray source, a square or rectangular X-ray detector, and a collimator. The collimator can be sized and shaped to collimate an X-ray beam from the X-ray source that exposes a receptor region on the detector. The collimator can allow the X-ray image received by the X-ray detector to have any suitable shape that allows a relatively large view of the image to be displayed and rotated on the display device without changing the shape or size of the image as it rotated. In some instances, the collimator provides the image with superellipse shapes or cornerless shapes having four substantially straight edges with a 90 degree corner missing between at least two edges that run substantially perpendicular to each other. Other embodiments are described.

Abstract: Micro-machined (e.g., stress-engineered spring) structures are produced by forming a release layer, forming a partially or fully encapsulated beam/spring structure, and then releasing the beam/spring structure by etching the release layer. The encapsulation structure protects the beam/spring during release, so both the release layer and the beam/spring can be formed using plating and/or using the same material. The encapsulation structure can be metal, resist, polymer, oxide, or nitride, and may be removed after the release process, or retained as part of the completed micro-machined structure.

Abstract: A water draining foot mat having a base with a plurality of upward extending projections where the upper draining surface of the base is sloped to facilitate the draining of water from the mat and the tops of the projections form a support for people to step on. The projections are sufficiently spaced apart to permit the majority of snow impinging the mat to contact the base where it can melt with the assistance of sunlight or salt so that the resulting water flows off the mat. The mat optionally includes water retaining walls with one or more water exits so that the walls in conjunction with the slope of the upper surface of the base cause water impinging on the mat to flow towards the water exits and off the mat.
