Patent number: 4626454Abstract: A decorative fitting having an internal layer as well as a method of fabricating it are disclosed. Preferably, the color layer is a very thin color wall dimensioned so that when it is viewed at one angle it gives the appearance of being a solid wall, yet when it is viewed at another angle it is substantially transparent. To make the color wall, one preferably forms a frame on a first substantially transparent panel such that the frame projects out from the first panel surface. One then abuts a second substantially transparent panel against the frame so as to form a color material insert cavity point, one injects a flowable colored material/adhesive mixture into the cavity and permits the colored adhesive to harden and bind the panel walls together. Thereafter, one cuts the transparent panels into a multiplicity of handle components by cutting the walls along lines partially transverse to the color layer. This forms multiple handle components which are a sandwich of the walls with the color layer in between.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1985Date of Patent: December 2, 1986Assignee: Kohler Co.Inventor: Robert B. Patent number: 4587148Abstract: Article suitable for floor mats comprising a backing, a foraminous element bonded thereto, said element characterized by having a multiplicity of openings therein, and bristles bonded to the backing, said bristles having a length such that they will protrude through said openings when the mat is trod upon by pedestrians, thereby allowing contact between the bristles and the shoes on feet of the pedestrians. The mat is useful in removing soil and moisture from the shoes and feet of pedestrians.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1985Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Douglas D. Patent number: 4560604Abstract: A method characterized by entirely or partially coating a shaped material of synthetic resin or fibers with an adhesive having incorporated therein a thermally color-changeable particulate material which comprises three components enclosed or encapsulated in a high-molecular-weight compound, the three components being an electron donating chromogenic substance, an electron accepting substance corresponding to the chromogenic substance and a solvent having a boiling point of at least 150.degree. C. and selected from among alcohols, amides, esters and azomethines; and electrostatically flocking the adhesive layer with colored or colorless short fibers. The treated material is useful for making stuffed toys or dolls.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Matsui Shikiso Chemical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Goro Shimizu, Yosuke Kitagawa

Patent number: 4551376Abstract: An improved pile-type, fin weatherstrip includes an elongated V- or U-shaped barrier fin bonded to a base strip and located between a pair of upstanding pile fiber arrays. The barrier fin is formed of thermoplastic film which is preferably smooth, but which may be roughened, dimpled or otherwise provided with a large number of pockets, or which may have a flocked surface. A lubricant grease is provided in the channel shaped cavity of the barrier fin, which lubricant is progressively dispensed in response to a wiping action type of movement which occurs when the barrier fin is compressed by the pile arrays during usage. The lubricant grease is exuded progressively over the useful life of the weatherstrip toward the free edges of the barrier fin located at or near the forward projecting face of the weatherstrip where such grease is dispensed in small amounts to decrease breakaway force, lower sliding friction and improved air infiltration characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1985Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Inventor: Milton Kessler

Patent number: 4551369Abstract: The invention relates to a composite foil, particularly a toilet seat support in which at least one thin, outer normally water-insoluble sealing layer (3) is connected to a less thin water-soluble supporting layer (2) optionally by means of one or more intermediate layers. For obtaining a complete tightness at least the sealing layer (3) is constructed in non-porous manner by extruding a foil from a thermoplastic material. Furthermore, the invention relates to a process and apparatus for the production of the foil by extrusion, preferably with a co-extrusion die.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1984Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Inventor: Roland K. Patent number: 4520058Abstract: This invention is concerned with a novel method for producing leather fibrous tissues in the form of raw material and semi-leather sheets produced by this method wherein odd flocks and other unnecessary fragments of animals' leathers produced subsequent to cutting or shaving operations of the leathers are cut into very short length in dried conditions and then resoluted in water, thereafter being dried up again to form small leather pieces. These pieces are selectively assorted through a filter means and uniformly stuck onto the outer surface area of a suitable basic clothing sheet. The invention further involves the construction of semi-leather sheet products produced by this method, which are far superior in heat-resisting, moisture-absorbent and releasing properties to the conventional semi-leather sheet products now on the market.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1983Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Inventor: Yoshiro Okabe
