Abstract: Disclosed are improved carpet products made using certain types of coating compositions to secure carpet fibers to a carpet backing or substrates and/or to secure one or more carpet scrims or other layers to carpet backing. The coating compositions, which can be in the form of either precoating or skip coating compositions, are made from latex binder emulsions based on interpolymers emulsion polymerized from vinyl esters, ethylene, and a multifunctional cross-linking co-monomer such as an unsaturated silane. Such emulsions are also stabilized with surfactant emulsifiers but are substantially free of protective colloid stabilizers. The multifunctional co-monomer alters interpolymer molecular weight, branching and/or flow properties such that films formed from such interpolymers exhibit relatively low elongation values.

Abstract: The present invention describes a process for the surface finishing of materials via application of specific polymethacrylate layers. The polymethacrylate layers are composed of blends of at least two (co)polymers of polymethacrylates, and specific “reactive monomers” are present here in a polymerized mixture which forms the polymethacrylate layer. At the application temperature established, these form a chemical and, where appropriate, also a physical bond to the substrate, and therefore have adhesion-promoting action.

Abstract: A fiber composite material includes fibers and a resin connecting the fibers. The composite material has a high strength while reducing resin consumption and has great flexibility with respect to subsequent deformation. To achieve this, threads are used that include a plurality of individual filaments and a resin which can be crosslinked under an impact of at least one physical variable and/or one chemical substance. The resin is provided in non-crosslinked condition, but is essentially solvent-free, and holds the individual filaments in the threads together, wherein the individual filaments are arranged unidirectional to each other, and the threads form a composite by bonding together at contact surfaces of their respective external enveloping surfaces through resin bridges. The invention further relates to a fiber composite material including resin in a crosslinked state as well as a method for producing the fiber composite material.

  • Patent number: 8142696
Abstract: A method for producing back-foamed air-permeable textile products, whereas, instead of providing a film or the like to prevent the penetration of reaction products or foam to the visible face, the pressure created during the reaction is intentionally decreased so that none of the reaction products nor the foam created by the reaction of the reaction products is able to penetrate the textile product. With a product manufactured in this way, the climatic comfort is improved and a better acoustic effect can be achieved. The disclosure also relates to a device which is suitable for carrying out the method and to a corresponding back-foamed air-permeable textile product.
