At least a major portion of the back stitches secure each layer of the primary backing to each other layer.

Abstract: Lightweight, non-woven loop products for hook-and-loop fastening are disclosed, as are methods for making them and end products employing them. The products are non-woven webs of entangled fibers of substantial tenacity, the fibers forming both a sheet-form web body and hook-engageable, free-standing loops extending from the web body. The product is stretched and stabilized to produce spaced-apart loop clusters extending from a very thin web of taut fibers. In some embodiments, the fibers include low denier fibers and/or bicomponent fibers.

  • Patent number: 6468623
Abstract: An improved cushioned carpet fabric is provided. The cushioned carpet comprises a primary carpet having a primary base and a plurality of pile-forming yarns projecting outwardly from one side. A layer of reinforcement material is bonded to the primary base on the side opposite the pile forming yarns. The reinforcement layer is adjacent to and embedded in, a cushion layer of a polymer such as a polyurethane. There is preferably no additional adhesive between the cushion layer and the layer of reinforcement material since the primary carpet fabric is mated in-situ to the polyurethane-forming composition without preheating the polyurethane-forming composition. An apparatus and process for forming the cushioned carpet fabric of the present invention are also provided.

Abstract: A sweat-absorbing and non-slip pad is disclosed. The present invention includes a surface cloth and an underlying non-slip material. A non-slip paste forming said non-slip material is coated on the bottom surface of the cloth using spraying or spreading until an appropriate thickness is provided, and then pressed to shape and from the non-slip material on the bottom surface of the cloth. Among these, the non-slip paste is formed by mixing and melting an adhesive binder and PVC material. The adhesive binder including plastic powder, plasticizer, stabilizer and foaming agent, thereby providing stickiness and fine protrusions for enhancing non-slip ability. Additionally, the cloth includes a surface woolenette layer and having an underlying base. The permeated portion in the base caused by the non-slip material never oozes form the base so as to not affect the woolenette layer.

Abstract: A decorative texturized fabric is provided. The fabric is produced from a fabric substrate that includes a yarn nappable from one side of the substrate. For instance, in one embodiment, the fabric substrate is a warp knitted fabric. According to the present invention, the fabric substrate is treated with a size composition according to a particular pattern. The fabric is then napped causing a nap to form on one side of the fabric where the size composition has not been applied. In this manner, a texturized pattern is formed into the fabric. After napping, the size composition can be removed from the fabric and the fabric can be dyed.
