  • Patent number: 7739829
Abstract: Insect pests can be transported around the world in wooden shipping containers. To prevent the spread of wood-borne insect pests, it is necessary to kill insects within the wood. The wood is placed in a vacuum container having a flexible wall. The flexible wall presses against the wood and enables the wood to be heated by conduction. The wood and flexible wall can to be heated by contact with ambient or heated air, for example. Desiccant or dry air can be used to increase the rate of dehydration. Insects in the wood are typically killed after losing 25-50% of their body weight by dehydration. This technique will kill beetle larvae, nematodes and other invasive and destructive insects that live inside solid wood, and is particularly applicable for rendering wood acceptable for use in pallets and other containers shipped internationally.

  • Patent number: 7736605
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a duration of burn of a stick of incense includes a base and a ferric rod extending away from and over the base. A hole is provided in the base for placement of a bottom end of the incense. A cylindrical portion is adapted to fit over and slide along a longitudinal length of the incense. A magnet is attached to the cylindrical portion and is adapted to secure the cylindrical portion, where desired, along a longitudinal length of the rod. Accordingly, the incense is supported in two locations and is disposed under and generally parallel to the rod. The incense is able to burn until the area of combustion reaches the cylindrical portion, at which time it is extinguished. Two alternate embodiments are described that allow use of modified forms of the cylindrical portion with prior art types of incense burners.

Abstract: A trap and surrounding hollow station for killing target animals. The trap includes upturned sides that prevent debris from setting off the trap. The trap includes a safety catch that permits the striker to be cocked without setting the trigger. The trap includes a downwardly moving trigger retaining a bait against the trap base with a protective shell surrounding at least part of an edible bait and resisting deformation by the trigger. The station may be a sheet of foldable material that can be formed into a hollow housing with spaced apart end and side walls. Skirts on the base can be attached to a substrate to immobilize the station.

Abstract: A rodent trap comprises a pail having an upright side wall extending upwardly from a bottom wall to an open top end of the pail. A rotating body is supported for rotation at the open top end of the pail. Typically a ramp provides rodent access to bait on the rotating body. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of integrally moulded mounting grooves on an inner surface of the side wall retain opposing ends of a shaft of the rotating body such that the shaft is slidably removable from the grooves through the open top end of the pail, and the outer surface of the rotating body includes at least one groove formed therein so as to be arranged to receive and retain bait therein.

  • Patent number: 7726066
Abstract: The elongated tubular pesticide administration system is designed to fit between the foundation wall of a structure and the lowest board in a lapped exterior wall system, such as wood, composites, cement-fiber board, vinyl, or aluminum siding. The pesticide dispersion system is attached to the inner surface of the lowest board, and it includes an extended, flexible, resilient seal which seals it against the outside of the foundation wall, thereby sealing the exposed area between formed between the foundation wall and the exterior siding. Pesticide foam is injected into the system through fill ports which are spaced along the bottom of the system. The pesticide foam fills the aperture and is then disbursed through pesticide dispersion holes.

Abstract: A cheating dummy for repelling deer and similar animals from forbidden site is invented. In addition to cheating ability, the dummy also equipped with sensor for detecting approaching animals and capable of triggering actions such as spreading water toward approaching animals, generating ultra-sound to scare them and even making a gunshot sound to repel them. By combining cheating and scaring functions, the repelling effect is expected to be much better than those devices using only sprinkling water or ultra-sound repelling alone. The cheating dummy is user decoratable by dressing with customized outfits for decoration or increasing cheating ability.
