With Line Propelling Or Trajecting Means Patents (Class 43/19)
  • Patent number: 10888076
Abstract: A reel for fishing line or the like provides for extremely rapid payout by releasing the line to unwind by sliding rapidly around a guide surrounding the line spool and by rotation of the line spool itself. A handle extending rearwardly from the reel controls a line guide preventing sliding of the fishing line around the guide and providing controllable friction and locking of rotation of the line spool only when actuated by the user to permit retraction of the line or controlled tensioning of the line.

  • Patent number: 8590204
Abstract: The fishing rod with casting mechanism enables an angler to cast a lure or the like by cocking or arming the mechanism and pressing the release. The device includes a central stock having a lower brace and upper tubular member spaced apart from the lower brace, with forward and rearward plates connecting the brace and tube. A spinning reel is installed between the lower brace and upper tube. A coil compression spring and a plurality of elastic tensile members in tandem therewith is installed in the upper tubular member. A telescoping rod extends from the forward plate, and a handle extends from the rear plate. The mechanism propels a projectile (lure, sinker, float, etc.) and tackle (hook, lure, etc.) when the compressed spring and extended elastic bands are released. The projectile draws the fishing line from the reel. The projectile and tackle are reeled in conventionally after the cast.

The mounting plate and tube sandwich a fishing rod. A wing extends upwardly from the mounting plate to engage the reel seat base of a reel. A spring is disposed in an inner cavity of the tube. The spring can move between a relaxed position and a compressed position. A plunger extends out of the first end of the tube and is attached to an outer end of the spring. When the plunger is pulled backwardly away from the tube the spring moves to the compressed position and when the plunger is released the spring moves back to the relaxed position such that an object in front of the outer end of the spring is propelled out of the second end of the tube.

Abstract: The spring loaded fishing rod is a fresh or salt water fishing rod that allows a fisherman to cast without using any swinging force of the arm. This allows the angler more accurate casting as well as aiding him when casting from beneath trees or in dense underbrush. The first version of the present invention is basically a spring loaded fishing rod wherein the top portion of the rod slides into the lower portion of the rod, compressing a spring which propels the lure in the desired direction when the tension is released. The second version of the present invention can be added on to an existing rod and features a spring loaded cartridge with two eye hooks which is suspended from the last two eyes on the existing rod. The end eye slides along the cartridge to compress the enclosed spring. A stop restraining expansion of the compressed spring unit is adapted to be finger released by the fishman; and, when the stop is released from the compressed spring unit, the latter forcefully expands to cast the abutting sinker and connected fishline an appreciable distance from the instrument into the water. A push-rod slidable in an elongated support mounted to the body of the instrument may be removed by the fishman and entered into the elongated tube to return the spring unit to its compressed condition restrained by the stop.

  • Patent number: 5363584
Abstract: A slingshot for use in shooting a fish line comprises a Y-shaped body having two arms, each of which is provided with a safety pin and an upper tip to which an end of an elastic band is fastened. The elastic band is provided at the midpoint thereof with a leather piece attached firmed, thereto. The Y-shaped body further has a bottom end fastened to a fastener which is in turn fastened to a fishing rod. The bottom end of the Y-shaped body is fastened to the fastener in a manner that the Y-shaped body can be so adjusted as to be placed in a position perpendicular to the fishing rod or in a position in which the Y-shaped body rests on the fishing rod. With the slingshot, an angler is able to hurl out a fish line, along with a fishhook, a sinker and a float, to hit an intended area of the water surface.

  • Patent number: 5342003
Abstract: A spinning reel includes a pair of arms formed on a rotor disposed in a forward portion of a reel body. At least one of the arms carries an oscillatable arm, and a bail arm extends between the oscillatable arm and the other arm or an oscillatable arm attached to the other arm to be switchable between a line winding position and a line freeing position. A bail engaging element is formed on the oscillatable arm or a member oscillatable with the oscillatable arm. The bait engaging element is operable to hold a bait against a forward tension when the bail arm is set to the line winding position, and to release the bait forwardly when the bail arm is set to the line freeing position.

  • Patent number: 5210972
Abstract: The present invention discloses a device that can be affixed to a conventional fishing rod having a reel, a bail, a fishing line, and a lure, said device being capable of engaging the fishing line when the bail is released, maintaining engagement of the line while the rod is flexed and released, and releasing the line instantly when the line becomes slack, so that the lure is cast forward by the straightening of the rod and then allowed to travel on a trajectory that is unrestrained by the line.

  • Patent number: 5193298
Abstract: A fishing rod apparatus is arranged with a first and second rod tube reciprocatably mounting a plunger therethrough. The second rod tube selectively utilizes spring or pneumatic pressure to direct the rod exteriorly through a forward end portion of the first tube. The forward end portion of the first tube is arranged to position a fishing line support such as a float to direct the associated fishing line to a desired target casting position relative to the rod structure.

  • Patent number: 5038510
Abstract: A quick release bow fishing device is provided. The device allows for a quick connect and disconnect of a fishing rod and reel from an archery bow. The device is comprised of a connecting shaft that attaches to the bow at the socket conventionally employed for a stabilizer attachment. The fishing rod is provided with a longitudinally bored channel within the handle to receive the shaft. The shaft is constructed so that trigger catch means engage the shaft to restrict relative motion of the shaft within the channel thus holding the bow and rod together. The trigger catch release is located on the handle for easy manipulation by the operator to effect a release of the shaft for a quick disconnect of the rod from the bow. Another embodiment of the device is provided with the shaft having radial arms to engage retaining slots in the rod handle.

  • Patent number: 4845880
Abstract: A casting rod provides a reel seat with trigger mechanism having a depending arm to fasten a first rearward end of an endless elastic propellant device. The second forward end of the elastic propellant device is carried by a depending arm of a stretching mechanism that is selectively positionable on the rod at plural points spacedly forward of the first depending arm. A fishing line carried in ordinary fashion by the rod is fastened to the propellant device and projected with it, responsive to trigger motion, to propel the fishing line in predetermined trajectory at a distance from the rod. The propellant device remains interconnected to the end portion of a fishing line to there serve as a float or sinker depending upon density of that propellant device.
