  • Patent number: 5038510
Abstract: A quick release bow fishing device is provided. The device allows for a quick connect and disconnect of a fishing rod and reel from an archery bow. The device is comprised of a connecting shaft that attaches to the bow at the socket conventionally employed for a stabilizer attachment. The fishing rod is provided with a longitudinally bored channel within the handle to receive the shaft. The shaft is constructed so that trigger catch means engage the shaft to restrict relative motion of the shaft within the channel thus holding the bow and rod together. The trigger catch release is located on the handle for easy manipulation by the operator to effect a release of the shaft for a quick disconnect of the rod from the bow. Another embodiment of the device is provided with the shaft having radial arms to engage retaining slots in the rod handle.

  • Patent number: 4845879
Abstract: A casting rod combined with an open face reel such that during a cast swing, a main portion of the rod moves in front of the reel to avoid colliding with casting line peeling off at the reel spool. The line is guided by a rod tip guide positioned at a tip portion of the rod. The combination is arranged such that nothing other than the mentioned guide contacts the line during the cast, thereby producing very little friction. During line retrieval, a retrieval guide positioned between the reel and the rod tip guide, guides the line onto the grooved rim of a roller as the rod bends under load. Several embodiments of the invention include various mechanisms for releasing the line during the cast swing. The rod can cast heavy lines without backlash and has applications that are not limited to fishing.

  • Patent number: 4845880
Abstract: A casting rod provides a reel seat with trigger mechanism having a depending arm to fasten a first rearward end of an endless elastic propellant device. The second forward end of the elastic propellant device is carried by a depending arm of a stretching mechanism that is selectively positionable on the rod at plural points spacedly forward of the first depending arm. A fishing line carried in ordinary fashion by the rod is fastened to the propellant device and projected with it, responsive to trigger motion, to propel the fishing line in predetermined trajectory at a distance from the rod. The propellant device remains interconnected to the end portion of a fishing line to there serve as a float or sinker depending upon density of that propellant device.

  • Patent number: 4773179
Abstract: A fishing rod which is foldable is pivotally attached at one end to the handle of a bow. The fishing line from a reel is attached to the arrow which is to be shot and extends through the eyelet of the fishing rod to the fishing reel. The fishing rod is folded to about half its length and is rotated about the pivot point down out of the way so as not to hamper the normal shooting of the arrow. When the arrow strikes a fish, the fishing pole is unfolded and rotated to its operating position by triggering a lever. The fishing reel and rod can then be used to reel in the fish.

  • Patent number: 4756113
Abstract: A fishing rod, having a longitudinal through bore for the reception of the terminal tackle (fly, spoon, spinner, plug, baited hook, etc.) replaces the conventional rod and has a port at its rearward end, communicating with a charge of air from the operator's lungs to launch said terminal tackle, thus eliminating the need for the traditional arm casting action required in the use of conventional fishing rods. The bore includes a second lateral port a small distance forward of the rearward port for receiving a flexible strand, wound on a conventional fishing reel, and having its free end attched to the terminal tackle. Said terminal tackle has an integrated impeller-seal, designed to cooperate with various styles of lures, bait and the like.

  • Patent number: 4656773
Abstract: A device relating to a breakdown sport fishing rod, to better utilize the energy applied to casting a weight. The device having a fishing rod butt section supporting an adjustable rotating spool at its tip end. The spool has an attached cylindrical appendage capable of receiving interchangeable rod blanks. The appendage also adapted to support and provide adjustments for a pulley. The pulley communicating by means of elastomers and or cables with one or a pair of pulleys placed in a second adjustable environment on an additional appendage. • Patent number: 4654994
Abstract: A fishing rod unit for use particularly in areas of thick vegetation. The specific device is an attachment for fishing rods and, in particular, a fishing rod combination wherein the fishing line passes along the central axis of hollow components. The attachment is a hollow elongated body having an internal diameter sufficient to accept a conventional float carried by the fishing line. The length of this body is sufficient to encase the float, a weight and the bait. Tension on the fishing line causes the float, when within the body of the attachment, to compress a coiled spring within the base thereof. The extreme end of the body carries an enlarged portion that assists a fisherman in the passing of the rod through thick vegetation. Since there is no portion of the line, or the attachments thereto, exposed to the vegetation, entanglement with the vegetation is prevented.

  • Patent number: 4644682
Abstract: A winch includes a spindle plate having a plurality of pins fixed thereon, the pins forming the core of a winch and the line of the trap is wound on the pins. An ejector plate is axially slidable for ejecting the wound line from the pins into the water. The space surrounded by the pins forms a basket in which the buoy is put in the winding-in step, this securing the line to the pins for the winding. The ejection step is produced by a slidable ejection shaft carrying the ejection plate, and driven by a motor. An advancing shaft is carried by and within the ejection shaft, and at the final movement of the ejection shaft, the advancing shaft ejects the buoy clear of the line coil. The advancing shaft is moved relative to the ejection shaft, by a cam carried by the ejection shaft and engaging a fixed trip unit.
