Motor-operated Patents (Class 43/26.1)
  • Patent number: 6684558
Abstract: A downrigger including a downrigger line and weight supported from a motor powered reel associated with a fishing line and fishing rod with a releasable interconnection between the downrigger line and fishing line so that when the bait connected with the fishing line is taken by a fish, the fishing line will separate from the downrigger line to enable a fisherman to play and reel in the fish in a well known manner. The motor powered reel can pivot between an outboard fishing position, an idle position above a boat cover board or gunwale and an inboard position which enables the reel, motor and associated components of the downrigger to be attached to or removed from the boat. Power is supplied to the powered reel only when the downrigger is in the outboard fishing position. The powered downrigger unit includes a removable cover for the reel, motor and other drive components to prevent accidental contact with these components.

  • Patent number: 6685125
Abstract: A tool for reeling in a tip up apparatus for convenient and easy coiling of fishing line on the reel of a tip up apparatus. The tool for comprising a drive motor housed in a sealed enclosure with self-contained power supply and lighting device. A permanent non-replaceable chuck designed to engage with a tripping rotor as is generally used in tip up and fishing reel devices. The device includes controls for activating the motor and light. The enclosure is designed to comfortably fit the user's pocket or hand and the control device is designed so that a person wearing cold weather hand coverings could easily work the control while gripping the tool. The light is directed through a lens to illuminate the area that the chuck engages the trip rotor to provide the user with a well-illuminated area of work when engaging or disengaging the device from the tip up apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6678990
Abstract: Claimed is a trolling device for use on a moving boat. The trolling device utilizes a continuous looped guide groove, which spirals around a driveshaft, and has a connecting loop that joins the first spiral with a second spiral that then travels back down the driveshaft to a second connecting loop. As the driveshaft continuously rotates in one direction, a travel pin with an attached fishing lure moves back and forth along the driveshaft. One or more speed change zones are incorporated into the driveshaft as regions of changed pitch in the spiral guide grove. The speed change zones result in the speed of the lure changing as it passes through the water, so that the lure will have an occasional burst of speed, and then slow down during its travel through the water.

  • Patent number: 6520105
Abstract: This invention concerns a remote control unmanned fishing boat intended for enjoyment of remote control fishing and a remote control device for use with the boat. The invention contemplates enabling the operator to advance the boat forward and backward and change the direction of the advance of the boat by manipulating the remote control device 2. By the operator using the remote control device 2 for actuating a depth sounder, the information concerning the depth of water and the condition of water bottom determined by the depth sounder is displayed on a monitor 41 of the remote control device 2. When the optimum position for fishing is found consequently, the operator is allowed to lower his fishhook in the water by manipulating the remote control device 2.

  • Patent number: 6457283
Abstract: An apparatus for deterring flying animals and method for making the same. The apparatus is made from a planar base plate in which one or more tangs are formed. A wire is removably attached to at least one of the tangs, the wire having a first portion that has a component that is not planar with the base plate and a second portion that can be captured by the tang. The first and second portions of the wire are attached at one end of the second portion. The wire can also have a third portion, also attached to the second portion, at the other end of the second portion. The tangs in the base plate can be linear, zigzag, or have any other configuration. If the tangs have a zigzag configuration, the base plate is preferably sinuous. The third portion of the wire can have three subportions, although the third portion is coplanar. The three subportions are at angles to one another.

  • Patent number: 6389732
Abstract: Radio-controlled fishing apparatus is provided including a hand-held radio signal generator which is integrally formed with a telescoping fishing rod. A fishing line extends from the rod to a miniature boat which includes a radio signal receiver and an electric motor which drives a propeller. The method of use includes guiding the boat to a suitable fishing location or along a trolling route by the radio signal generator whereupon a fish striking the attached bait can be manually reeled in, along with the boat. A slip attachment connected to the fishing line allows the line to quickly release from the boat thereby freeing the line as the fish is played, but allowing the boat to be simultaneously returned to the operator with the fish.
