Publication number: 20130333272Abstract: The process by which materials are applied to a plastic fishing lure surface, thus producing a lure that possesses chromatic vicissitude as a result of water temperature fluctuations. At the onset of this process, a non-thermochromatic base layer of one or more colours is applied to the plastic fishing lure. This layer acts as the visual appearance of the fishing lure in the absence of temperature fluctuations. Clear extender is then used as an additive to the thermochromatic ink. This addition to the ink then allows the ink to be sprayed onto the surface of the lure. This ink-extender amalgam can be applied in multiple layers however; the bottom layer must have the least amount of hue saturation. Each layer thereafter would increase in hue saturation. Multiple hue combinations can be utilized. Once the desired number of thermochromatic layers has been applied, an ultra clear super high gloss lacquer finish is sprayed on to the exterior of all layers.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2011Publication date: December 19, 2013Applicant: Mr. Gerald GravelleInventors: Gerald Gravelle, Daniel Nossey

Publication number: 20130031822Abstract: An artificial bait features an overmolded fish attractant sponge and ports through which fish attractant exudes. The bait is comprised of a soft resilient plastic. A container portion of the bait houses the sponge. The container portion includes perforations for fluid communication with the housed sponge. Prior to injection molding, the sponge is a dry compressed cellulose sponge. The sponge is coated with oil prior to injection molding. Pins or blades in the mold assembly position the oil-coated, compressed, cellulose sponge in the container portion of the bait. The pins or blades also define perforations in the container portion for fluid communication with the sponge. The oil coating on the compressed cellulose sponge prevents molten plastic from impregnating the sponge during the injection molding process. The oil coating does not cause the sponge to expand. Publication number: 20100199542Abstract: The snag-resistant fishing lure is designed to minimize the chances of the lure becoming ensnared. The lure has a jig and a blade attached to the blade in a configuration that limits the side-to-side movement of the blade, thereby preventing the jig from rolling to a hook-downward position prone to snagging. A centrally aligned hole is positioned close to the front edge of the blade member. An eyelet extending from the jig body is attached through an aperture in the blade. The blade is limited in its side-to-side movement by contact between the blade edge and either the jig body or the eyelet. The limited side-to-side movement of the blade creates a quick, controlled, oscillating blade action that imparts a natural swimming motion to the lure, emulating prey species movements.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2010Publication date: August 12, 2010Inventor: James Ronald Davis

Publication number: 20100146837Abstract: Fishing lures constructed with internal strands of high tensile strength fibers (e.g. aramid) bonded to body pieces independent of any associated hooks. The strands are trained in appropriate alignments (e.g. longitudinally, transverse and/or radially) at high wear areas to enhance flexion and minimize tearing, especially at spanned joints. The fibers can be bonded into the body materials or anchored to the body pieces. Several soft plastic (e.g. plastisol and pvc) lures molded with resilient, durable stranded and webbed fibers enhancing durability and defining flexible joints, appendages etc. are disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2008Publication date: June 17, 2010Inventor: Jeff Zernov
