Patent number: 11281242Abstract: A pressure regulating and pressure relief valve, has a valve body defining an inlet port, outlet port, valve seat and pressure relief opening. A pressure regulating plug is displaced during a first portion of a motion from an open position, which provides a continuous flow path from the inlet port to the outlet port, to a closed position in which the plug is closed against the valve seat to obstruct the continuous flow path. A spring biases the plug to the open position. An actuation surface is exposed to a pressure at the outlet port that displaces the plug against the spring bias toward the closed position. Further displacement of the plug beyond the closed position during a second portion of the motion that is beyond a range of the first portion of the motion, opens a relief flow path from the outlet port through the pressure release opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2021Date of Patent: March 22, 2022Assignee: BERMAD CS LTD.Inventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 8403662Abstract: A combustion air supply apparatus 9 of alternating heat exchange type supplies combustion air and discharges combustion exhaust gas at a flow velocity of 80 to 200 m/sec. A burner assembly 4 is configured in such a manner that low-caloric fuel gas is pre-heated with heat of pre-combusting high-caloric fuel gas before the low-caloric fuel gas reaches a mixing starting space CA in the combustion chamber where the pre-combusting high-caloric fuel gas and the low-caloric fuel gas come to burn together in a full scale in the mixing starting space CA. When an air amount of the combustion air supplied through the high-temperature air supply ports of the plurality of fuel gas combustion apparatuses is defined as Q1 and an air amount of the pre-combustion air to be mixed with the high-caloric fuel gas, supplied from the fuel gas combustion apparatuses, is defined as Q2, a total air amount (Q1+Q2) is 1.02 to 1.10 times more than a theoretical air amount QS required for combustion, and a ratio of Q2/(Q1+Q2) is 0.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2008Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignees: Chiyoda Corporation, Nippon Furnace Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomoyuki Mikuriya, Toshiaki Yoshioka, Ryoichi Kawabata, Eiji Watanabe, Nobuhiro Onda, Takeo Nikkuni, Shuhei Wakamatsu, Susumu Mochida, Tadahiro Araake, Hiroyuki Nakamura

Patent number: 7631640Abstract: A highly efficient radiant burner assembly (100) for use in a patio heater or the like in areas where people prefer or require low NOX emissions. The efficiencies are created through the use of a spherical burner element (116) that is either formed of a high temperature steel wire mesh or stamping containing apertures of a predetermined size to allow combustion to remain within the burner element and to not cause the temperature of the burner element to exceed the temperature at which NOX are developed. Coating the burner with a catalyst also aids the low emission combustion process. Additional efficiencies are provided by atomizing the fuel before it is mixed with air and by the use of a laminar flow heat exchanger (940) that utilizes a fluid media flowing in a helical coil condenser unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2005Date of Patent: December 15, 2009Assignee: Advanced Propulsion Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Peter Hofbauer, Yue Xin Huang

Patent number: 6863524Abstract: A fuel pre-heating device for use with gas heaters to increase fuel efficiency including an orifice and a pre-heat tube. Fuel enters the device through the orifice and travels through the pre-heat tube and back to the orifice where it is then expelled and mixed with air to ignite into a flame that envelopes the entire pre-heat tube and heats the fuel within the lube to a very high temperature. Any air mixer known to those skilled in the art can be used with the heating tube. A heat conductor can also be used with the pre-heat tube. The pre-heating device can be easily added to standard heaters, is small in configuration, and inexpensive to manufacture. The small size of the heating tube allows for immediate preheating of the fuel, which is used by the heater in the same heating cycle, thereby yielding a more efficient preheat. This preheating system prevents the fuel from being wasted.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Inventor: Brent Purcell

Publication number: 20020055075Abstract: A gas operated lantern includes a regulator having a simple mechanism allowing a user to start or stop the flow of gas through the regulator. The regulator preferably exhausts an air/gas mixture in the same direction as which gas enters the regulator. The regulator includes a diaphragm assembly which presses down on a valve assembly to open the valve assembly. A stem enters the regulator and is turnable by the user to raise the diaphragm assembly and thus cause the valve assembly to close. The lantern also includes an automatic choke. The choke is preferably a strip of metal located in the burner tube of the lantern which acts to close off a portion of the burner tube when the lantern is cold, causing the air/fuel mixture to become richer and thus easier to light. As the lantern heats up, the choke straightens to open the burner tube, allowing a greater flow of air through the lantern and causing the air/fuel mixture to become leaner and thus raising the efficiency of the lantern.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2002Publication date: May 9, 2002Inventor: Richard Long

Patent number: 5813847Abstract: A device for injecting fuels (4) into compressed gaseous media essentially comprises a cylindrical hollow body (24) with at least one fuel feed passage (2) and means for the introduction of compressed atomization air (5). A swirl chamber (1) is arranged in the interior of the hollow body (24), this swirl chamber being connected via at least one inlet opening (6) to the fuel feed passage (2). The cross-section of the swirl chamber (1) narrows in the direction of flow of the atomization air passed through the interior of the hollow body (24), thereby forming a cone (8). A dividing wall (20), which extends downstream at least as far as the center of the inlet openings (6), is arranged upstream of the swirl chamber (1), between the fuel in the swirl chamber (1) and the atomization air (5). A method for operating the device is furthermore described.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1996Date of Patent: September 29, 1998Assignee: ABB Research Ltd.Inventors: Adnan Eroglu, Hans Peter Knopfel, Peter Senior

Patent number: 5356487Abstract: A combustion device for producing predetermined radiation spectral output and heat for a variety of applications including lighting, cooking, heating water, electric power generation, and providing inexpensive photons to enhance chemical and physical reactions.A process for the preparation of a porous ceramic burner is described which comprises drawing a solution which contains metal oxide fibers onto a burner skeleton by use of a vacuum to form a base fiber layer. The base fiber layer is dried, after which an additional metal oxide fiber layer, the outer fiber layer, is added over the base fiber layer. In another embodiment of the invention, an intermediate fiber layer is placed over the base layer, prior to the addition of the outer fiber layer.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1992Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Quantum Group, Inc.Inventors: Mark K.
