Mounted On Fuel Tank Adjacent Flame Holder Patents (Class 431/277)
  • Patent number: 4717335
Abstract: A cigarette lighter, including a gas nozzle mounted on a housing, and a rotatable spark-producing wheel engaged with a flint to deliver a spark toward the gas nozzle. The wheel carries a structure which engages the flint-supporting structure in such a way as to limit the rotation of the wheel unless it is rotated in the opposite direction, such that a child playing with the lighter will encounter difficulty in producing a spark when the wheel is disposed so as to be nonrotatable in the direction in which it delivers a spark to the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4462791
Abstract: Firelighting apparatus for lighting fires comprising a holder for use in combination with a lighter of the type having a separate rotatable flint sticker and a movable fuel valve. The holder includes a first elongate member having a mounting adjacent its remote end for removably mounting the lighter thereto. A second elongate member has mounted adjacent its remote end a frictional engaging member. The first and second elongate members are mounted for relative longitudinal movement therebetween such that relative movement in one direction causes the frictional engaging member to consecutively rotate the flint striker and engage the fuel valve to light the lighter and relative movement in the opposite direction to extinguish the lighter.

  • Patent number: 4458667
Abstract: A gas warmer for use in cold regions which can be carried on the body and uses gas as fuel. The warmer comprises a closed container filled with gas fuel, and having igniter means similar to that of a cigarette lighter. In addition, the warmer contains a flow-controlled gas outlet pipe coupled to an external retainer for holding a roll of metallic cotton. When the igniter is lit, the metallic cotton is heated to incandescence. Gas fed to the metallic cotton heating element keeps the cotton in incandescence as long as the gas flow continues, even after the igniter is turned off.

  • Patent number: 4457699
Abstract: A valve for a cigaret gas lighter is comprised of a flexible gas conduit extending between a nozzle and a gas tank. The flexible gas conduit is pinched or bent to close the conduit. An operating member pinches or bends the gas conduit to close the conduit by a spring. A manually operable lever is provided to open the conduit by removing the operating member overcoming the spring force. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the conduit is positively opened in addition to removal of the operating member when the gas lighter is to be ignited.

  • Patent number: 4352658
Abstract: A gas lighter has a pistol-shaped casing that contains a gas cartridge in line with a mouthpiece which simulates a muzzle and forms a hood overhanging a striker wheel coacting with a spring-pressed flint. The striker wheel is clamped between cheeks of a reel which is eccentrically linked with a slider having an actuator in the shape of a trigger and trigger guard, the latter being articulated to a toggle joint urged by a transverse spring into a nearly straight-line position whereby a squeezing of the trigger results in an accelerating rotation of the wheel against the flint. The slider also opens a shut-off valve at the cartridge to allow the outflow of gas which is ignited by sparks from the flint hurled toward the hood.
