Means Supplying Fuel For Passage Through The Flame Holding Structure, E.g., Radiant Surface Burner Patents (Class 431/328)
  • Patent number: 8814560
Abstract: The invention relates to a gas burner comprising a perforated cylindrical wall used as a combustion surface, a bottom wall and an inlet opening through which a combustible gaseous mixture is fed inside the burner. The stabilisation device consists of a grid (4a) that can be positioned in the inlet opening of the burner, and that comprises a central ring (5a) surrounded by a series of diverting vanes (6), the grid being thus configured so as to allow the free passage of the central portion of the flow of gaseous mixture entering the burner through the central ring (5a) while said diverting vanes (6) generate an eddy movement in the peripheral portion of the flow entering the burner from the outside of the central ring (5a).

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for drying a material or, more generally, flash evaporating a target substance having a vapor pressure threshold. The methods and systems include a conveyor conduit that receives material. The material moves through the conveyor and is expelled into a pressure drop zone created by one or more venturi nozzles. As the material encounters the pressure drop zone, the targeted substance in the material experiences a rapid and extreme pressure drop and simultaneously a rapid temperature increase. This causes the target substance in the material to flash evaporate virtually immediately. The resulting vapor is separated from the remaining material and the now dry material is collected for further processing or use. The vapor can be collected, condensed, exhausted, or otherwise treated depending upon the goals of a particular installation or process.

Abstract: The proper sizing of microchannel dimensions and the management of internal features offer the possibility of inherently safe operation within the flammable limits of a combustible fluid stream while preserving the largest-possible flow dimensions for industrial-scale process capacity. Specifically, the microchannel dimensions need not be restricted to gap distances below the quenching distance to be operated safely. Microchannel performance can be engineered to provide adequate heat transfer for flame propagation. However, it is essential to maintain flame characteristics in such a manner that it cannot transition to a detonation flame front. A detonation takes place when the combustion wave propagates at supersonic speeds at the existing local temperature and pressure conditions in the system. It results in a much larger energy release over a much smaller period of time as compared to a laminar flame or deflagration, the later of which is a combustion wave propagating at subsonic speed.

Abstract: A plate type burner includes a burner main body and burning plates mounted on an opened surface of the burner main body. A flange portion enclosing the opened surface is formed on an upper surface of the burner main body. The outer edge of each of the burning plates is placed on the flange portion with a sheet of packing interposed therebetween. The outer edge of each of the burning plates is pressed downward by a pressing plate. The flange portion is shaped in a stepped shape in which the inner part thereof on the side of the opened surface is formed lower than the outer part thereof. Then, the packing is compressed between the stepped part of the flange portion, the stepped part formed in the vertical direction, and the end face of the outer edge of each of the burning plates. Each of the burning plates is pressed to the inner side in the arrangement direction by the reaction force of the compression of the packing.

Abstract: An outdoor gas heater used in the field is provided. The outdoor gas heater includes a primary combustion net having a dual net structure. A wind-proof cover is provided to protect a thermocouple. Fuel gas is concentrated into a fuel gas discharge hole formed in the wind-proof cover so that an initial ignition performance is improved. A support is provided to support the outdoor gas heater from the top surface of a gas container. A fuel gas inlet tube is vertically installed between a head unit and a safety valve while being spaced apart from an adjustment handle, and a fire extinguishing safety device is provided behind the fuel gas inlet tube, so that the fire extinguishing safety device is hidden by the fuel gas inlet tube, thereby minimizing a volume of the gas heater without degrading aesthetic appearance of the gas heater.

Abstract: Described are an apparatus and a method for cooling a web. The apparatus includes an inner cylinder having a void therein and configured for coupling to a gas source. The apparatus also includes an outer cylinder having an inner surface, an outer surface to support a web and apertures between the inner and outer surfaces. The outer cylinder rotates about the inner cylinder so that gas provided to the void of the inner cylinder flows through the apertures that are adjacent to the void and passes to the outer surface of the outer cylinder to increase the heat transfer between the web and the outer cylinder. The volume of gas introduced into the vacuum deposition chamber during a process run is thereby limited. Advantageously, the apparatus enables higher deposition rates and increased productivity.
