  • Patent number: 7033166
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a valve with a safety mechanism for diverting reverse gas flow being mountable in a gas lighter wherein a shoulder is formed around a mouth proximate a forward opening of a sleeve and is spaced apart from the forward opening by a predetermined gap when an actuation member is not pressed, the actuation member is pressed to lift a leakproof nut at a bottom of the mouth for opening a bottom hole of a seat to permit gas to flow into the valve, the shoulder then contacts the forward opening for blocking gas flow and direct the gas flow to a nozzle through a hose for ignition. Thus, after the actuation member being released, the gas remaining in the hose will flow back and leak through the gap and the forward opening to the outside because the gas pressure in the hose is larger than the outside pressure.

Abstract: A fuel delivery system and burner for a torch. Fuel passes from a regulator into a tube that extends through the path of a flame that is produced by the burner. The tube preferably is shaped into a coil around the area of the flame so that the coil is heated by the flame. The heated coil assures that liquid fuel in the coil is vaporized as it passes through the coil. In addition, the coil may act as a flame spreader. A burner tube includes an internal passage and an outer passage. Fuel vapor flows through each of these passages, and escapes the burner tube at a distal end. The outer flow of gas is slow, and does not aspirate air, causing the flame to remain attached to the burner and to burn yellow. The inner flow of gas adds velocity, helping the burner flame to be wind resistant.

  • Patent number: 6699033
Abstract: A piezoelectric lighter includes a gas emission arrangement including a pair of jet nozzles and a gas emitting tube communicating with a liquefied gas storage respectively, a gas releasable valve extended from the liquefied gas storage for controlling a flow of gas to the gas emission arrangement, a pair of gas ejecting conduits connected from the gas releasable valve to the two jet nozzles respectively, and a gas ejecting duct connected from the gas releasable valve to the gas emitting tube. Therefore, the piezoelectric lighter is adapted for selectively producing either a pair of jet flames at the same time when the gas discharged to the two jet nozzles through the gas ejecting conduits or producing a visible flame when the gas discharged to the gas emitting tube through the gas ejecting duct.

Abstract: A hot melt glue gun comprising a main housing (5) having a glue stick accommodating bore (8) extending therethrough and terminating in a dispensing nozzle (9) through which melted glue is dispensed. A catalytic combustion element (16) is located in a combustion chamber (15) for raising the temperature of the main housing (5) to an appropriate temperature for melting the glue stick. Fuel gas is supplied to the catalytic combustion element (16) through a fuel gas valve (20) having a spindle (40) extending therefrom. A piezo electric ignition unit (27) generates an EMF for generating a spark across a pair of electrodes (25) in the combustion chamber (15) for igniting the fuel gas to initially burn with flame combustion to raise the temperature of the catalytic element (16) to its ignition temperature.

Abstract: A gas lighting rod comprises a gas release valve and a piezoelectric igniting system, both operated by a spring-loaded operating member, and a spring-loaded safety member which has to be operated to release the operating member. The operating member is aligned transversely and the safety member includes a pivoted lever having a lock/release arm extending generally along an axis of the operating member and interacting therewith, and a control arm engaged on an other side of a pivot and from an opposite side of the lighting rod from the operating member. The lock/release arm is substantially enclosed within the operating member, and its end is sloped such that its engagement with the operating member tends to urge the end into a locked position if a user attempts to operate the operating member without first fully operating the safety member.

Abstract: A heated volatile dispenser and a volatile carrier for use therewith are disclosed. The volatile dispenser has a closed heating chamber having ceiling and exit vents. A fuel burner is contained within the heating chamber, and a carrier holder is positioned over the fuel burner. The carrier holder holds a volatile carrier in a location above the fuel burner such that hot gases from the fuel burner pass the carrier holder and directly heat a volatile carrier held thereby. The volatile carrier may be held in an edge-on orientation with respect to the flow of hot gases, or transversely with respect to them. The volatile carrier has an inward end that has a cross-sectional profile made to be complementary to that of an insert slot through which the volatile carrier must be inserted for use. An alternative embodiment is shown that uses a candle as a fuel burner.
