  • Patent number: 9173719
Abstract: The present invention discloses a tool, kit and method for applying loading, torsional/twisting, oscillatory or vibration induced forces to a bond line established between a tooth root surface and an associated bone defined socket within which the tooth is held. Forces are applied typically for a given number of cycles or iterations in order to adequately pre-loosen the tooth from the bone. In a most basic variant, a body is adapted to being engaged by an output portion of a force applying tool. The body includes a pair of tooth engaging portions adapted to being inserted into contact with opposite surfaces of the tooth root surface and opposing surfaces associated with the bone receiving socket. The tool introduces loading forces to the engaging portions, causing the tooth to displace within the socket sufficiently to fracture the bond with the bone, thereby facilitating tooth removal.

Abstract: A manual driver for a dental implant drill or other dental implant tools and the method of use for preparing for dental implantation are provided. The manual driver includes a handle, an extension shank and a chuck having an axial channel configured to receive and interlock an implant drill, and a fastening screw transverse to the axial channel. The method of manual preparation for dental implantation using the manual driver has a high precision, and reduces the risk of bone cracking caused by vibration of motor-driven drilling. The manual drilling method provides better tactile sensation and drilling control to the dentist. Further, the method avoids drilling irrigation, allows collection of virgin bone tissue from the drills, and reintroduces the collected bone tissue in the receiving bore to promote bone regeneration after the implantation.

  • Publication number: 20080182226
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for attaching instruments. The device includes a rotary shaft intended to accept the instrument and rotationally drive it. The device also has at least one peg that can be retracted elastically until it can fit into the latching groove, thus axially retaining the instrument. A catch rotates as one with the rotary shaft and, in combination with the rotary shaft, gives the shape combined with that of the driving flat of the shank of the instrument. There is the particular feature of retracting radially or longitudinally if the flat is correctly orientated and resuming the position in which it rotationally drives the instrument. The flat of the instrument generally adopts the appropriate position when turned as soon as the slightest rotational force is applied to it. The instrument is released by action on a push-button, which moves the peg aside or radially retracts it.

  • Patent number: 6210161
Abstract: A breakdown dental forceps is provided in which the jaws are specifically designed to terminate in a flat and fine point which is capable of reaching down into extremely tight places which other dental forceps are unable to enter. The inner edges of the two jaws are also constructed to produce a concave surface on each which allows the jaws to firmly grasp irregularly shaped objects such as the mandibular molar roots. The finely tapered jaws and their concave inner surfaces allow the forceps to be used to grasp the mesial and distal surfaces of a molar which provide more gripping area and results in an easier extraction of the target molar. Additionally, the breakdown forceps is also designed in a manner that allows it to be taken apart which allows for the use of the lower handle and outer jaw or upper handle and inner jaw as a pry instrument used to loosen the mesial and distal roots of a sectioned molar which makes the extraction of those roots from the mandible significantly easier.
