The hooked head has free and fixed ends, and the fixed end is secured to the first end of the neck. The free end of the hooked head defines a sharp tip. An annular flange is located at an interface between the fixed end of the hooked head and the first end of the neck. The annular flange has a diameter greater than a diameter of the fixed end of the hooked head and greater than a diameter of the first end of the neck.

A portion of the mould material at an end of the restrained flask portion is available for contact with the shaft along the axis of travel. A capped end of the shaft is forcefully advanced against the adhered mould material therein, thereby breaking the adhesion. After this is done, the denture flask is dismounted from the mould press and the hardened mould material is removed from the first flask portion. If necessary, the process is repeated with the other housing portion.

A tip member comprised of a resilient silicone material that is removably mounted on the spade member. The tip member has a longitudinal axis along a length of the silicone tip and a cavity defined in a rear end of the silicone tip along the longitudinal axis. The cavity is adapted to receive the length of the spade member. The ratio of the length of the silicone tip member to the length of the spade member is greater than 1:1 and less than 2:1. Preferably, the surface of the spade member is smooth and the tip member slides on to and off of the spade member.

A transverse aperture extends through the threaded front portion. The transverse aperture is sized to closely receive the shaft of a dental tool from either side of the transverse aperture. A nut is threadably received on the threaded front portion, and the nut is rotated to tighten the nut against the shaft of the selected tool to secure the selected tool to the endodontic instrument. The back portion and the nut are preferably textured to improve the gripping surface.

In one embodiment, the two components being coupled are a wave guide in direct contact with an ultrasonic motor and a dental scaling tool. In this embodiment, vibrational motion is transferred from the acoustic extension to the tool insert.

The stem of a twisted wire brush is inserted into the V-shaped gap when the locking retainer is open. As the locking retainer is closed, the stem of the twisted wire brush is captured between the handle and locking retainer.
