Each of the replacement teeth comprises a bottom face with a surface structure configured to engage an assigned complementary retention structure provided by one of the retention sections of the framework configured to receive the respective replacement tooth. Each surface structure provides in combination with the assigned complementary retention structure a non-destructive detachable direct connection between the replacement tooth comprising the respective surface structure and the retention section comprising the respective assigned complementary retention structure.

    Abstract: A low-profile retentive abutment is used for securing dentures to a user's jaw. The low-profile abutment has an abutment fastener is used to mount an overdenture onto the user's jaw and has a body, a dimpled recession, and a retentive clasp. The dimple recession traverses into the body and forms a mounting point to attach the clasp to the body. The clasp is a connector that enables the overdenture to be detachably mounted onto the body. The clasp has a stop plate, a C-shaped frame, and a dimple protrusion. The stop plate ensures that the clasp is maintained in a desired orientation while attached to the body. The frame is connected in between the stop plate and the dimple protrusion so that the dimple protrusion engages into the dimple recession. Accordingly, the frame facilitates maintaining the clasp in an orientation that facilitates securely attaching the overdenture to the user's jaw.

The bridge framework as a whole is made of a dental alloy and is capable of being adjusted automatically to the length of a gap between teeth by changing the length of the support bar. Reinforcing ribs are provided on the bottom of the support bar. This bridge framework makes superfluous the manual construction of a wax model of a framework and the subsequent casting in metal that have been required up to now. This bridge framework is always made the same qualitatively, and guarantees that the production of tooth-replacement bridges will be considerably simpler and quicker.

Additional auxiliary parts may be part of the locking clasp member and include a bar portion with a curved spur, a receptacle portion which has locking projections which engage in the locking recesses in the case of a labial locking clasp and a clasp stem also with locking projections with a stop in the case of a buccal locking clasp. When the additional auxiliary parts are made of wax the entire locking clasp member may be used with a wax pattern to produce a completed partial casting with the appropriate locking clasp in a single casting operation which does not require reworking.

One stem has an enlarged end for mating with an aperture in the retention means; the other stem mates with a groove on one side of the retention means.The apparatus has a low profile and is easily hidden from view. The denture is securely but flexibly positioned in the patient's mouth, is conveniently manufactured, and has no mechanism which can be obstructed by bits of food. The apparatus is not retained in position by forces exerted against the tooth and thus reduces wear on the tooth and the denture.
