  • Publication number: 20140178840
Abstract: A prosthetic device that securely joins with a tissue through the utilization of at least one pressure differential portion, such as suction cups. The pressure differential portion serves to form a vacuum between the device and the tissue for secure attachments. The device comprises a silicone shape and conforms to tissue, such as the gums. An upper portion and a lower portion join with an upper gum and a lower gum, respectively. A mounting surface includes at least one pressure differential portion for fastening to the tissue. An engagement surface is operable to perform functions for the device, including engaging an object, such as food. The upper and lower portion comprise side surfaces with adhesives for additional stability and fastening capacity along a longitudinal axis of the tissue. The device includes an antibacterial composition to inhibit odors. The engagement surface may include an ornamental portion, such as gold.

  • Patent number: 7699610
Abstract: A flexible denture is provided with a denture plate and a false teeth assembly. The denture plate includes a support member and a deformable member. The support member has an approximately U-shaped base, a labial wall and a lingual wall extending from the base, wherein the labial and lingual walls form an approximate U-shaped cross-section along an imaginary vertical plane to form a channel. The deformable member extending across the channel and spaced a distance from the U-shaped base to separate the channel into a gum receiving section and a fitting section, the fitting section including a plurality of ridges extending between the U-shaped base and the deformable member. The deformable member is constructed of soft and pliable material. The false teeth assembly includes a plurality of false teeth secured to the base, the false teeth assembly includes a reinforcing bar embedded within and connecting the plurality of false teeth.

  • Publication number: 20080299517
Abstract: The denture with suction attachment is an upper or lower denture plate having a floor with at least one suction cavity formed therein, at least one check valve for sealing the chamber formed by the suction cavity and the user's mouth when the denture is installed therein, and at least one suction passage extending between the valve and one suction cavity. The suction cavity may have one or more cavities extending generally across the span of an upper plate, or along the gum line of a lower plate. The suction cavity or cavities are preferably provided with a peripheral seal of a soft, resilient silicone material, or other suitable seal. A suction pump is also provided for removable attachment to the check valve. A magnetic attachment is preferably provided for securing the end of the interconnecting suction pump line to the check valve of the denture.

  • Patent number: 7338285
Abstract: A dental cleaning attachment for a dental handpiece which comprises a disposable prophy angle having a neck and a right angle head, wherein the neck is removably attached to the dental handpiece. A polishing cup is rotatably connected to the head of the prophy angle. An encompassing toroidal pouch has a tube fluidly formed to and extending from the toroidal pouch. The tube runs externally along a top surface of the neck, is bent at a right angle, goes through a rear aperture in the head of the prophy angle and into a top aperture in the polishing cup. A paste material is carried within the toroidal pouch, the tube and the polishing cup. When the dental handpiece is gripped by a hand of a dental hygienist and the polishing cup is applied to a tooth, any finger of the hand of the dental hygienist can squeeze the toroidal pouch to force some of the paste material through the tube and out of the polishing cup, so that the paste material can be applied onto the tooth for cleaning.

  • Publication number: 20040091838
Abstract: On a dental prosthesis comprising an anatomically adapted shaped part (1) and teeth (2), here represented for the lower jaw, after its completion several suction holders (5) are mounted in an individually distributed manner. The primary part of a suction holder (5) is a vacuum adhesion plate (6), which adheres on the ridge (3). The plurality of suction holders (5) distributed on the adhering surface result in a comfortable seat and a good adhesive strength.

  • Patent number: 4808110
Abstract: A method for affixing an improved denture appliance including artificial teeth fixedly secured with respect to one another within a support member wherein the support member defines an arcuate concave mounting channel therein which is adapted to be positioned in abutment with respect to the gum tissue of a user to facilitate securement. The support member defines affixing holes formed therein with flared lower edges to allow the gum tissue of a user to grow into the holes. An initial drilling of the affixing holes will be followed by at least one month of usage of the denture appliance allowing protrusions of gum tissue to grow into the initially drilled holes. After at least one month of wearing the affixing holes will be drilled somewhat larger to allow the protrusion of gum tissue growing therein to also enlarge.

  • Patent number: 4548582
Abstract: A method of making dental prosthesis in which an occlusion model representing a jaw impression obtained with the existing prosthesis is prepared, a guideline is marked a short distance from the edge of the prosthesis. A thin layer of adhesive is applied to the penciled guideline on the occlusion model to fasten a wax wire along the penciled guideline and both ends of the wire fused together. The dental prosthesis is ground to a volume at which the wax wire, when it is placed on the occlusion model, will be completely unencumbered with respect to the prosthesis. The edge of the prosthesis is refilled with a mass of plastic until the wax wire is completely embedded in it and the freshly applied mass of plastic polymerized. The prosthesis, which has been removed from the occlusion model is worked and the wax wire baked or evaporated out of it.

  • Patent number: 4311462
Abstract: It has been found that the upper and lower dentures of false teeth tend to remain more securely in place if the marginal edges of the outer flange, in the case of the upper denture, and the inner flange, in the case of the lower denture, are thickened in the posterior areas of the respective plate. In the case of the upper denture, the marginal edge of the upper flange is curved sharply outwardly so as to engage the cheek of the wearer, during use, in the vicinity of the junction of the cheek with upper gum. This thickened marginal portion of the flange is greater in the posterior areas than in the anterior area of the plate. In the case of the lower plate, the posterior ends of the inner flange rearwardly from the second molars, are provided with inwardly and downwardly extending projections which, during use, extend beneath opposite sides of a person's tongue adjacent the rear thereof, and into engagement with the floor of the person's mouth.
