  • Patent number: 10849667
Abstract: The invention relates to a biodegradable, magnesium-containing bone screw for implanting into a patient body for use in medical applications, such as, orthopedic, craniofacial and cardiovascular surgery. The bone screw has a head, shaft and tip. The thickness of the head is greater than the thickness of conventional bone screws. The shaft includes both a non-threaded and a threaded portion. The tip is non-threaded and pointed, such as, conical in shape. The composition of the bone screws provide for improved biodegradability and biocompatibility, and the features of the structure of the bone screws facilitate guidance and placement during implantation as well as reduce the potential for mechanical failures.

  • Publication number: 20110223564
Abstract: This invention claims a magnetic denture or prostheses connection device. Dental implants are an improved method for tooth replacement in that their performance is more similar to natural teeth than are common plate dentures. Unfortunately the implant method is more complex and difficult to build and install. This translates to higher cost to the patient. In the industry there is a variety of mechanisms for connecting a denture to a variety of implant coupling systems. There are both removable and non-removable types. Non-removable dentures are rigidly screwed to the implants or abutments, whereas removable types use snap-together plastic clips. Removable is better from a hygienic perspective. Current coupling and connector devices are seldom a perfect fit even after much care and effort by the installer. This puts high forces on some implants and couplers, and imperfect mating of others. Resulting wear eventually requires repair and/or replacement of connector parts.

The engaging member may also be a soft plastic annular member. When a ball head on the stake is engaged therein, the denture is fixed in place.

  • Patent number: 4993950
Abstract: A dental connector structure has a first, transmucosal cuff member which is attached to the jaw bone or tooth root through an implant fixture embedded in the bone or tooth root, and a second, keeper member to which a denture is attached. The second keeper member is removably mounted to the transmucosal cuff. A resilient, elastic member, such as an O ring, is disposed between the transmucosal cuff and the second, keeper member to permit selected limited but substantially universal motion of the keeper member relative to the transmucosal cuff, and to absorb forces transmitted by the denture through the keeper member towards the underlying bone or root structure. The resilient elastic member also keeps the transmucosal cuff and the second, keeper member from contact with one another, and thereby minimizes corrosion. The denture includes a magnetic skirt that limits the lateral movement of the denture and the keeper.
