Abstract: A bone repair material is described that is of putty-like consistency, particularly useful for repairing dental bony defects such as those caused by bone loss resulting from moderate or severe periodontitis, augmenting of bony defects of the alveolar ridge, filling tooth extraction sites, or sinus elevation grafting. The repair material includes a porous, resorbable particulate that is bone-derived or derived from bone-like hydroxyapatite or synthetic hydroxyapatite; and, a resorbable carrier, such as high molecular weight polysaccharides, such as hyaluronic acid. A high concentration of particulate in the putty enhances bone repair and requires a high concentration of carrier to retain the putty at the defect site. For a particulate density of about 1.2 g/cc such as PEPGEN P-15® Bone Graft, a preferred formulation comprises about 55% percent by weight of the putty suspended in a hyaluronic acid gel of about 1.

Abstract: The present invention provides a redox-curing type composition that penetrates into a wet body, particularly into a tooth structure (dentin), is cured in an accelerated manner by the moisture contained in the wet body, thereby exhibits a higher bond strength than those of conventional redox-curing type compositions, and has satisfactory storage stability. The present invention is a redox-curing type composition including a polymerizable monomer (a) having an acidic group, a polymerizable monomer (b) having no acidic group, a powdery inorganic peroxide (c) with an average particle diameter of 0.01 to 50 ?m, an amine-based reducing agent (d), and a polymerization accelerator (e). The amine-based reducing agent (d) includes an aromatic amine (d?1) and an aliphatic amine (d?2), and a weight ratio (d?1):(d?2) therebetween is 5:1 to 1:50.

Abstract: A matrix band retainer clip for sealing a matrix band against a tooth is provided. The retainer clip includes a pair of tines, each of which has a generally wedge shaped piece with a pair of contact surfaces that are angled relative to one another. A spring is coupled with and extends between the tines and biases the tines towards one another to apply a biasing force from at least one contact surface of each tine against the matrix band thereby sealing the matrix band against the tooth. The spring has a generally U-shaped portion with a pair of vertically extending legs coupled with the tines at their lower ends and interconnected at their upper ends by a generally laterally extending leg for distributing a stress across a length of the spring in response to the tines being separated from one another.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reversibly securing an attachment part to a base part by means of a connecting means which rigidly connects these parts to each other. For this purpose, an adhesive separating material is disposed between the base part and the attachment part, said material losing its adhesive effect reversibly or irreversibly under the effect of electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract: A dental tool for use in photo-cured filling processes. The dental tool includes a tool tip formed from a material that allows the transmission of ultraviolet and visible light wavelengths through the tool tip without significant distortion or reflection. The material is also relatively high strength so not to shatter or break during use. The fill material will also not easily adhere to the tool. The material of a preferred embodiment is sapphire. The tool is able to continue to compact and shape the fill material while the composite polymer fill material is undergoing photo-curing. The light beam used for photo-curing is able to safely pass through the tool without the risk of damage to the surrounding tissue from reflection or distortion of the light beam.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an improved dental composition useful in the repair of cavities, apex repairs, root perforations and root canals. Disclosed is a dental composition and dental composition additive which have improved handling characteristics, for example improved viscosity and setting time. The addition of effective amounts of a modified cellulose and calcium chloride to available dental repair compounds, such as mineral trioxide compound, results in the improved dental composition without affecting the other characteristics of the dental repair compound.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for use in improving the appearance of a patient's teeth having plurality of defects. More particularly, the process involves obtaining a cast having a plurality of teeth portions corresponding to the patient's teeth. The cast include a plurality of defects corresponding to the defects of the patient's teeth. A first material is applied to the tooth portions of the cast to correct the defects in the cast and to form a modified version of the cast without removing any of the cast material from any of the tooth portions of the cast. A mold is made using the modified version of the cast. The mold is used in applying a second material to the patient's teeth for creating a temporary modified look directly on the patient's teeth for viewing by the patient.

Abstract: Examples of apparatus, methods, and compositions for endodontic treatments are described. The apparatus can include a fluid platform configured to substantially retain fluid in a tooth chamber during treatment. The fluid platform can help maintain fluid circulation in the tooth chamber as fluid flows into and out of the tooth chamber. The apparatus can also include a pressure wave generator configured to generate acoustic waves that can be used for cleaning root canals and tooth surfaces in the tooth chamber. An access opening can be formed, and the pressure wave generator can be used to remove organic material from the tooth chamber. In some treatments, after cleaning, the tooth chamber can be only partially filled by an obturation material. In other treatments, substantially the entire tooth chamber can remain unfilled by the obturation material. After cleaning the tooth, the access opening can be sealed, using, e.g., a coronal seal.
