Abstract: A system for enhancing reading performance operates on a network-connected server with software executing from a non-transitory medium at the server providing an interactive interface for a user connected to the server via a browser link. There is a data repository coupled to the server. The interactive interface provides a word search exercise for the user for improving the user's reading performance, displays a passage comprising a first number of words and a search list with a second number of words that each appear at least once in the passage, the second number smaller than the first number, and when the user clicks on every word in the passage for a word that appears in the search list, that word is indicated in the list as found, until all the words in the search list have been indicated as found.
Abstract: The reading teaching aid is a transparent substantially right triangle shaped sheet, preferably plastic. The sheet has linear legs and a staircase shaped hypotenuse. The sheet is used to teach a learner to read symbols, such as letters, characters, syllables or words, by covering the symbols with the sheet thereby highlighting the symbol(s) to be read. The stepped shape permits the user to successively highlight larger groups of adjacent symbols to learn to read or pronounce progressively larger groups of the symbols.
Abstract: The invention refers to a device for supporting reading of a text from a display member (1) in order to increase the reading speed. The device includes first means (2, 4) which are arranged to provide a text, which consists of a number of characters forming words in said text, and to display at least a part of the text on the display member (1), an second means (2, 5), which are arranged to display a marking means (7) which marks at least one character of said part of the text on the display member (1). The second means are arranged to move the marking (7) in an automatic manner on the displayed part of the text in order to control the reading of the text.

The method of learning a subject comprises the steps of selecting an apparatus having a moving message display for displaying a moving message, establishing a graphic display of at least two versions of a subject to be learned on the moving message display means, and moving the versions along the display at a selected velocity while observing same.

Abstract: Biological agents such as secretory cells are encapsulated in a hydrophilic gel made of agarose or collagen-agarose and gelatin sponge-agarose combinations. In a preferred embodiment, semi-solid beads are formed from a suspension containing collagen, agarose and secretory cells such as pancreatic islets, the collagen is polymerized to form solid, agarose-collagen beads and the solid beads are coated with agarose. Coating is preferably by rolling the solid beads in about 5-10% agarose, contacting the rolled beads with mineral oil and washing oil from the beads. Beads containing secretory cells can be transplanted into a mammal to treat a condition caused by impaired secretory cell function.
