The adjustable mannequin head comprises a cranial structure further comprising independently adjustable sections that correspond to the cranial bones of a human skull. The independently adjustable sections adjust such that the exterior surfaces of the adjustable mannequin head can be adjusted to resemble the shape of the head of a client. The adjustable mannequin head comprises the cranial structure, a plurality of bolts, an anchor structure, and an orientation structure. The cranial structure supports the postiche during the hairdressing activities. The plurality of bolts adjusts the shape of the exterior surfaces of the cranial structure. The anchor structure secures the plurality of bolts into position. The orientation structure provides a hairdresser with cues that allow the hairdresser to envision better how the postiche will look.

Abstract: A support device includes an outer shaft having a first end and a second end. The support device also includes an inner shaft adjustably coupled to the outer shaft. The support device further includes a mounting rod pivotally attached to the inner shaft and removably coupled to a mannequin component. The mounting rod includes a plurality of attachment nubs spaced apart from each other along a length of the mounting rod. The plurality of attachment numbs are further angularly spaced apart from each other with respect to a central axis of the mounting rod. The support device also includes a release button, which, upon actuation, is configured to move each of the plurality of attachment nubs from an extended position to a retracted position to allow the mannequin component to be movable relative to the mounting rod.

Abstract: A cosmetology training mannequin securing device for securing the mannequin to an edge of a wash basin in a non-vertical position for shampoo training includes: a) a mannequin neck strap, adapted to extend around the mannequin neck; b) an intermediate connection component connected to the strap and to a clamp; c) the clamp, connected to the intermediate connection component and in a position so as to attach to the wash basin with the mannequin in a shampooing non-vertical position. Abstract: The presently disclosed technology teaches a hair accessory for receiving and restraining a bundle of hair, a method of making the hair accessory, and methods of styling hair and instructing others to style hair using the hair accessory. The hair accessory comprises a pair of opposing ductile metallic members. In one implementation, the ductile metallic members are generally rectangular and each has a pair of longitudinal ends. The ductile metallic members are covered by at least one backing member. The ductile metallic members are generally configured in an opposing relationship to each other with at least one closed end. The ductile metallic members may be separated from each other along a portion of their longitudinal lengths to define an opening for receiving a bundle of hair. The opposing ductile metallic members may also be closed about the bundle of hair to secure the hair accessory within a wearer's hair.

Abstract: A method of imparting hair strand effects may include identifying each of a plurality of hair strands to which to apply a hair strand effect product independently and individually, the plurality of hair strands associated with an illustration of at least one type of hair strand effects and one of a plurality of hair styles, and applying the product to each of the plurality of hair strands independently and individually subsequent to identifying the plurality of hair strands. In the alternative or in combination, a hair instruction guide may be consulted, the guide having at least one strand size associated with one of the plurality of types of hair strand effects, and a strand of hair may be identified according to the at least one strand size. Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and device to teach hair coloring. In particular, the present invention provides a three dimensional mannequin head with hair dyed to correspond to a traditional two-dimensional color wheel, i.e., in the configuration of a three-dimensional color wheel that is used to teach others, such as, for example, hairdressers, beauticians, or any person who may have occasion to color hair, how to select the appropriate dye colors to achieve a desired hair color. The present invention also provides teaching methods utilizing the three dimensional mannequin head.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for teaching cosmetology. The apparatus includes a sensor and a computer-based controller. In operation, the sensor senses a cosmetology student performing a cosmetology operation and generates a sensor signal in response thereto. The controller processes the sensor signal and based thereon generates a control signal for displaying the cosmetology operation in a virtual manner on a video display.

Abstract: A hairdressing training headform has features simulating a face and neck of a human. A flexible scalp with hair has a peripheral lip. A vertex is configured to simulate an upper portion of a human skull and has a periphery with which the peripheral lip of the scalp engages when the flexible scalp is placed over the vertex. A releasable locking means remote from the vertex periphery biases the vertex toward the headform such that the peripheral lip of the scalp is sandwiched between the vertex periphery and the headform.

The support stand includes: a base board; and a guiding bar, a pushing cylinder for lifting plates and a pressing cylinder which are centered about the center of the base board and sequentially positioned on the base board from inside to outside. A fixing ring for fixing the casing is provided at the periphery of the pressing cylinder. The shape keeping arrangement includes components fitted with the support stand and umbrella-shaped supporting components for supporting the casing. The shape keeping arrangement has a simple structure, and it will expand to keep the shape of the casing when the shape keeping arrangement mounted in the casing is inserted into the supporting stand. The shape keeping arrangement is simple to assemble.

Abstract: A customizable wig can be reversibly altered to create a wide variety of hairstyles. A customizable wig comprises a single base shell having an outer surface, a plurality of fasteners affixed to its outer surface, and a plurality of hair segments that can be fastened to the shell. The hair segments comprise at least one crown segment, at least one mid-section segment, and at least one nape segment. The segments can be removably attached by a variety of fasteners such as hook and loop fasteners or snaps. In order to provide even more options for alternative hairstyles, the crown, mid-section, and nape segments can comprise more than one segment. Enhancements such as feathers, hair wefts, or beaded strings can be easily attached to create additional styles. A box is optimized for protection during storage and transport, as well as for display of the wig.

The method includes removably affixing two or more cling elements to a smooth surface in a non-overlapping manner, the two or more cling elements being disposed concurrently on and directly contacting the smooth surface, and the two or more cling elements comprising a portion of the representation of the costume to allow one of the following: a first person to view a semblance of a costumed image comprising a reflection of the first person with the affixed two or more cling elements each positioned over the reflection of the first person, and a second person to view through the smooth surface a portion of the first person with the affixed two or more cling elements each positioned adjacent the portion of the first person viewed through the smooth surface. The method also includes displaying the smooth surface.

The first through fifth layers and the intermediate layer are superimposed over one another so as to display a simulated hair color that is produced when the first hair line, the second hair line, the colors of the two hair color preparations and the original hair color are displayed on the layers with respective transparencies and superimposed over each other. The RGB values of the superimposed colors produced by the two hair color preparations and the original hair color are stored in data storage sections. In one embodiment, the releasable hair portion is the crown of a mannequin head and is detachably fixed to the support base of the mannequin head, which is adapted to be fixed to a work surface or mount. In another embodiment the releasable hair portion is the chin and surrounding area, which is detachably fixed to the support base of the mannequin head. The removable hair portion of the mannequin attaches to the support base of the mannequin head with a latching system that securely fixes the hair portion to the head. The latching system includes at least one fastening tab and a releasable clip that engages an opening in the support base. In another embodiment, a detent system is positioned between a fastening tab and the locking clip.

When processing hair, the beautician displays a head-development drawing on the display device 4, and by referring to the drawing the beautician cuts or applies permanent wave to the hair in order to design a hairstyle precisely as desired by the customer and reproduce a predetermined hairstyle accurately.

Abstract: A mirror for checking dyed hair color has a mirror and a colored filter formed on part or the whole of the surface of the mirror. The colored filter is formed such that the color of the reflected image of hair from the colored filter is the same as the dyed hair color for when the hair has been dyed with a particular hair dye. By using this mirror for checking dyed hair color, it is possible to easily predict hair color after dyeing for any given initial hair color, thus making it possible to easily select a hair dye for obtaining a desired dyed hair color.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to build a simulated image in which a subject's hair is changed to a desired color, and to accurately suggest the hair dye needed to dye the subject's hair from its existing color to the desired color. The helmet portions are biased into an offset position to lock the hair extending through the perforations for permitting cutting and styling of the hair exterior of the hair supply assembly.

Abstract: A selection of scaled photographic images of appearance modifications are printed with opaque backing on clear transparent overlay sheets. An instant color photograph of a user is removably attached by Velcro to an opaque carrier page. The overlay sheets each overlay the carrier page one at a time to view what the user would look like with the appearance modifications. Overlay sheets are bound together in a spiral binder to permit ease of use and storage and updating with replacable pages. A scaled viewing guide slides removably into a slotted U-shaped holder around the camera viewfinder. Additional views of the appearance modifiers viewed from different angles and information and images of products related to the appearance modifiers may be printed on each overlay sheet.

Abstract: A magnetic three-dimensional analysis system for use as a tool in the demonstration of hairdressing techniques by an instructor and to aid a student in learning and practicing such techniques. In one form, the system includes four magnetic grid head forms: a left profile grid head form, a right profile grid head form, a front section grid head form, and back section grid head form. The grid head forms have flat backs which are magnetized so they can be attached to a magnetic blackboard or metal sheet. The system also includes numerous flat magnetic or adhesive strips with pointed ends. The strips are cut to certain lengths and color coded to represent different hairdressing techniques. In a preferred embodiment, a grid head form is attached to a magnetic board and the flat magnetic strips are then attached to the board around the grid head form to both define cutting lines and show proper hair length for a plurality of prescribed hair styles.

Abstract: A board game on which the players simulate a shopping trip to a mall by moving their distinctive markers along a route defined by rectangles depicting stores of various types. A spinner determines the number of squares a player moves her marker during a turn. Playing cards having decorative portions of different designs are stacked in storage areas, each associated with a rectangle of a store. Each player has a frame with a plurality of cavities for receiving and depicting the decorative portions of the cards. A player wins the game by being the first to fill all of the cavities in her frame with cards having decorative portions of the same design. A replica of an outfitted mannequin is formed on the front face of the frame. Several windows of transparent material are formed in the front face of the frame within the replica of the mannequin so that the decorative portions of the cards which are inserted in the frame will be visible as portions of the outfit of the mannequin.

Abstract: Apparatus for styling a hair replacement, the apparatus consisting of a headblock, in two forms, each form presenting an edge which simulates the front hairline of the ultimate user of the hair replacement whereby the edge may be utilized in styling the hair replacement when it is placed in overlying relationship to the headblock after manufacture and for styling. In one form, the edge is created by forming a flat face on the headblock and on the other form by defining a concavity in the face area of the headblock, the concavity having an upper wall which presents an edge for use in styling. The method of using the apparatus involves utilizing such a headblock by placing a hair replacement over the scalp area of the headblock with a portion of the hair replacement extending over the edge and then styling the hair replacement and leaving a portion of the hair replacement extending over the edge after styling so that when placed upon the head of the user the hair replacement will have a natural appearance.

Abstract: A piece of sculpture representing an animal having hair includes a rigid body and a plurality of thin, elongated metallic link chain strands attached by a first end of each chain to the body, leaving the second end hanging free and representing hair. A preferred embodiment includes some of the chain links rigidized with solder between adjacent links, which may be in the form of waves, curls or braids. Another preferred embodiment uses lengths of chain that are rolled and diamond cut wherein at least one surface along the length of a chain is a relatively flat reflective surface.

Abstract: A method for previewing a subject on a computer screen. Prior to such preview, a plurality of new hairstyles is stored in a disk associated with the computer. The subject's face is outlined and the subject's hair is removed and replaced with one of the new hairstyles stored in the computer's databank. Various modifications can be made to the image of the subject with the new hairstyle to complete the picture. A graphic printer provides a hardcopy of the subject with the new hairstyle.

Abstract: A mannequin for use as a tool in demonstrating a variety of hair styling techniques such as hair cutting, permanent waving, blending, texturizing and the like includes a simulated human head having a skull, scalp, and human hair attached to the scalp. The hair is of a length and thickness approximating that of an individual of a prescribed sex, size, and type. In a preferred embodiment as used for demonstrating hair cutting techniques, a plurality of variously colored line diagrams are applied to the hair to defined a plurality of cutting lines to be followed to accomplish a plurality of prescribed hair styles.

Abstract: A selection of photographic images of hairstyles are each secured on three edges to a viewing sheet. A see-through viewing space in any one of a number of common facial shapes is provided on the image where the face should appear. An instant photographic image of a user is inserted under the fourth side of one of the hairstyle image to view what the user would look like with the hairstyle. A tinted transparent sheet is inserted in three corner holders positioning the tinted sheet over the hairstyle image to change the apparent color or tint of the hairstyle image. A scaled facial outline viewing guide having a common facial shape is provided in the camera viewfinder to outline the user's face in the field of view when taking a picture of the user. Additional information such as appropriate hairstyling products may be printed on each viewing sheet. A series of viewing sheets are removably bound into a book form for ease of use and storage.
