Abstract: Circuits, methods, and apparatus that provide connector receptacles having a smaller size. One example provides this smaller size by decreasing the depth of the connector receptacle. Contacts in the connector receptacle may be protected from damage due to improper insertion of a second electronic device or connection to a second electronic device. This protection may be achieved in various ways. In some examples, one or more components or one or more contacts may be used to block the improper insertion of a second electronic device or connection to a second electronic device. In other examples, one or more contacts may avoid damage by being located outside of an insertion path until a second electronic device or connection to a second electronic device is inserted. In other examples, instead of blocking or avoiding an improper insertion, the contacts may avoid damage by bending out of the way.

Abstract: The convenience of operation is improved and the occurrence of connection failure between a connection-target terminal of an electric appliance and a connection terminal is reduced without requiring a complicated arrangement such as a fitting structure. A microphone charging device has a dustproof shutter provided so as to be movable with a microphone device setting/drawing-off operation between a covering position covering a charging terminal portion and an exposure position exposing the charging terminal portion, a torsion spring applies a fundamental urging force to the shutter between the covering position and exposure position, and plate springs apply additional urging force to the shutter in addition to the fundamental urging force in an additional urging section provided between the covering position and exposure position and thereby sets the shutter in an additionally urged state. When the shutter reaches the exposure position, the plate springs release the shutter from the additionally urged state.

  • Patent number: 7749003
Abstract: A lid member that opens/closes an opening of a receptacle connector has a wiping portion that wipes off adhering moisture by rotating to follow contact disposition surfaces upon insertion of a plug connector. Wiper members for wiping off small quantities of moisture remaining after wiping by the lid member are arranged so as to be movable back and forth in a substantially orthogonal direction to the plug connector insertion direction in front of a groove portion into which a contact portion of the plug connector is fitted. The wiper members are disposed so as to be urged towards the outer circumferential surface of the plug connector by elastic members. When fitting the plug connector, distal-end sides of the wiper members closely contact with the contact disposition surfaces of the plug connector and wipe off residual moisture. Thus, electrolytic corrosion of contacts can be prevented and the contact reliability improved.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a safety socket including a housing providing a top cover shell, a plurality of metal electrodes therein adapted for prongs of a plug as well as sets of jacks on the top cover shell relative to the electrode. Wherein, on the reverse side of the top cover shell, protected panels and resumption assemblies are pivoted thereon. The protected panels further have apertures arranged adapted for the jacks, and the resumption assemblies are positioned at an orientation against ramps to render the jacks closed while there is a juxtaposition between the ramps on the protected panels and the jacks. By the blocked jacks under the cooperation of the protected panels and the resumption assemblies, children would not desire to poke the jacks with articles, so as to efficiently prevent them from touching electricity-friendly elements and from the accident of electric shock.

Abstract: Connector apparatus and methods providing for “keep-out” functionality against improperly sized plugs or inserts are disclosed. In one embodiment the invention discloses a connector assembly incorporating an integrated keep-out feature associated with the housing. In one variant, the connector assembly comprises a modular jack connector, and the keep-out feature(s) is/are formed substantially within one or more the sidewall(s) of the housing, thereby simplifying its assembly and reducing its cost, as well as conserving on connector interior space. In another embodiment, the keep-out feature comprises an element disposed substantially within a plane parallel to the front face of the connector. Methods for manufacturing and using connectors with integrated keep-out features are also disclosed.

Abstract: A cover module of an electronic device and a control method thereof are provided. The cover module includes a body, a flexible connecting element, and a flip cover. The body has an opening exposing the connector. A sidewall of the opening has a first fixing structure. The flip cover is in the opening, and a sidewall of the flip cover has a second fixing structure locked with the first fixing structure. The flexible connecting element is connected between the body and the flip cover. When a force is applied to the flip cover, the flexible connecting element is deformed, the flip cover moves with the deformation of the flexible connecting element, and the locking between the first and the second fixing structures is released to cause the flip cover swinging open away from the body with a part of the flexible connecting element as an axis.

The memory card connector includes a first row of contact pins, a second row of contact pins and a protrusion. The first row of contact pins are configured to mate with the first row of contact fingers of the first memory card. The second row of contact pins are configured to mate with the second row of contact fingers of the first memory card. The protrusion is received within a contact finger in the second row of contact fingers of the first memory card to allow full insertion of the first memory card into the connector, and abuts against a distal end of one of the contact fingers of the second memory card to prevent full insertion of the second memory card into the connector.

Abstract: A tamper-proof receptacle is provided wherein the receptacle comprises sliding shutters disposed between phase and neutral terminals of the receptacle and openings in the face of the receptacle. The shutters are connected to circuit interrupting circuitry such that when one of the shutters is displaced through a specific range of motion, the circuit interrupting portion of the receptacle is triggered to disconnect electrical power from the phase and neutral terminals of the receptacle. In an embodiment, a logic circuit is connected to the shutters, and a monitoring circuit monitors supply of power to the face terminals. The logic circuit is configured to detect insertion of an object into only one of the pair of openings. A signal from the logic circuit to the circuit interrupting device is effective to prevent the object from touching any of the face terminals while power is connected to the face terminals.
