Abstract: A flap actuation mechanism is provided with flaps for opening an aperture formed in the housing of a notebook sized personal computer. A first shaft portion and a second shaft portion rotatably support rotating plates bent and formed in the flaps and an insertion mouth is formed in the abutting surfaces of the flaps. An opening pin is inserted into the insertion mouth from the outside. The positions of the first shaft portion and the second shaft portion are set according to the height of the rotating plates so that the moment of rotation for opening the flap outside the housing is greater than the moment of rotation for rotating the flap inside the housing. With this, it becomes possible to reduce the height of the rotating plates and therefore the flap actuation mechanism can be made thin.

Abstract: An electrical outlet has socket openings for insertion of contact pins of an electrical plug therein, a closure element that selectively closes or opens the socket openings, and a latching element that selectively latches or unlatches the closure element. The closure element slides perpendicularly to the insertion axis. The latching element includes a latching pawl that is flexibly deflectable parallel to the insertion axis, between a latched position for engaging the closure element and an unlatched position for releasing the closure element. An unlatching pin of an adapter is inserted to deflect the latching pawl to disengage it from the closure element. This unlocks the receptacle for use. Then the contact pins of the plug may be inserted through holes in the adapter and into the socket openings to press sloping surfaces of the closure element to slide the closure element to the open position.

  • Patent number: 5915981
Abstract: An electrical receptacle of the type having movable shutter members positioned to prevent insertion of objects other than electric plugs through the plug blade-receiving openings into contact with line terminals. Two identical shutter members, each having a camming portion and a blocking portion, are mutually assembled for relative, linear movement in either of two, opposite directions from a centered position to which they are biased by a pair of coil springs. Rigid objects inserted through the receptacle openings contact an angularly disposed surface on the camming portion of the shutter members, causing lateral movement of the element. When the blades of a plug are inserted, both shutter members move laterally to permit continued advance of the blades into the terminal contacts. When a single object is inserted, the blocking portion of one shutter element prevents advance of the object. A lip on the blocking portion prevents passage of the inserted object around the shutter element.

Abstract: Electric power socket (10) having structure (12) supporting electric contacts (20, 22, 24). A plug receptacle (18) having openings (100, 90) (102, 92) and (104, 94) therethrough is positioned for rotation in front of the contacts (20, 22, 24). The plug receptacle (18) is normally locked at an inactive position, at which it covers the contacts (20,22 24), by means of resiliently depressable locking tongues (142) which engage openings (90,94) of the plug receptacle. When pins of an electric plug are pressed into the plug receptacle (18) to pass through the openings (104,94) and (100,90) the pins engage the tongues (142), depressing them to allow the plug and plug receptacle to be rotated to align the plug pins with the contacts (20,22,24). Subsequent inward movement of the plug engages the pins with the contacts (20,22,24).

Abstract: A socket assembly comprising a number of sliding plates spaced from one another and arranged in a row between a base and a cover fixedly mounted to the base. Each sliding plate has a pair of slots thereon which is operable by an insertion of an ordinary plug to move the sliding plate directly in a lateral direction perpendicular to the row alignment. The sliding plate is able to return to an original position where communication between the slots on the cover and the channels on the base is blocked. Various types of springs are mountable on the cover, the sliding plate, or an additional securing plate disposed between the base and the sliding plate, or to be integral to the sliding plate. In a further embodiment, the pair of slots on each sliding plate is operable to move separately and independently.

  • Patent number: 5066238
Abstract: An electrical socket includes a socket housing which receives conductor pieces that are adapted to be electrically connectable to contact blades of an electrical plug. A rotary plate of a socket cover is provided in the front face of the socket housing. The socket cover further has a shaft projecting rearward from the rotary plate and extending into the socket housing. The socket cover is movable between a closed position, wherein the rotary plate blocks entry into the socket housing, and an open position, wherein entry into the socket housing is permissible, allowing plugging of the electrical plug into the electrical socket to achieve electrical connection between the contact blades and the conductor pieces. A control member engages the rotary plate when the socket cover is in the closed position to prevent rotation of the rotary plate relative to the socket housing.

Abstract: A device for preventing the insertion of foreign objects into electrical outlets by infants and small children. The device is connected and secured to or replaces currently existing outlets. Internal blocking members are moved into the open position by depressing the locking buttons and sliding the blocking member away from the center of the device thus allowing electrical plugs to be inserted into the device. When a plug is removed from the device the corresponding blocking member is automatically forced into the closed position by internal springs. While in the closed position the openings for the plug are completely blocked preventing the insertion of objects into the openings and the locking buttons automatically engage in the locked position preventing movement of the blocking member until the locking buttons are depressed again.
