Abstract: Board-to-board connectors that consume a minimal amount of board area, are simple to assemble, and provide a clear indication that a proper connection has been made. One example may consume minimal area, since only a retention key and slots in boards and connectors are needed. The connector may be simple to assemble since it may be as simple as stacking components, pushing down, and turning a retention key. Further, a first and a first line on a key and a cowling may be aligned after assembly to provide a clear indication that the connector has been properly assembled.

  • Patent number: 7844303
Abstract: Several of the components used to implement a wireless transmitter, such as a DC-powered FM transmitter usable for playing media content from a personal media player over a vehicle's FM radio, are organized using an arrangement by which a controller that includes a user interface is removably couplable to a charger plug that interfaces with a power source. An arrangement for removably coupling a device connector in the transmitter to the charger plug is also provided. In an illustrative example, the controller and charger plug are configured with magnetic elements which are used to retain the controller against an end of the charger plug using magnetic force. A portion of the device connector is removably insertable into an elastically deformable connector cap that is configured to removably slide over the charger plug end.

  • Patent number: 7596849
Abstract: A wafer level package filter includes a device wafer having an acoustic wave device disposed on its surface, the acoustic wave device including at least an acoustic wave resonator associated with a piezoelectric substrate and a connecting pad. A capped substrate includes circuitry having inductors and capacitors. The capped substrate has a coefficient of thermal expansion significantly unequal to a coefficient of thermal expansion for the piezoelectric substrate. An adhesive bond connects the capped substrate to the device wafer for encapsulating the acoustic wave device within a cavity. A dielectric overcoat is deposited over a portion of the capped substrate, and a metallization layer extends over a portion of the dielectric layer connecting the capped substrate circuitry to a connecting pad of the acoustic wave device. Optionally, a bond connecting the capped substrate to the device wafer may provide an interlocking connection.

  • Patent number: 7021947
Abstract: An assembly for connecting a coaxial cable to a connecting port. The connecting assembly has a tubular fitting with a central axis and axially spaced first and second ends. The tubular fitting is operatively engageable with a coaxial cable directed into axially overlapping relationship with the tubular fitting at the first end of the tubular fitting. The tubular fitting has a first connecting assembly including a first connecting part that is movable around the central axis selectively in (a) a first direction to a secured state and (b) oppositely to the first direction from the secured state into a released state. In the secured state, the first connecting part maintains a coaxial cable, operatively engaged with the tubular fitting, connected to the connecting port. A shield assembly blocks radial access to the first connecting assembly in a manner that allows the first connecting part to be accessed and moved from the secured state into the released state with the shield assembly in the operative state.

  • Patent number: 6137409
Abstract: A computer anti-theft system that includes a remote transmitter unit carried by the user, a dongle that physically attaches and selectively locks onto the parallel port on an existing computer, and a software program that is loaded into the computer's memory. When the system is activated, the remote transmitter unit transmits a pulse code signal which is received by a receiver component located inside the dongle. When the pulse code signal is received, the dongle is elevated to an active state. The dongle then transmits a return pulse code signal to the remote transmitter unit and the loop continues. If no pulse code signal is received, the dongle, is elevated to an alarm state. An alarm pulse code signal is then broadcast to the remote transmitter unit and elevating it to an alarm state. In one embodiment, the software program is used to control a solenoid inside the dongle which prevents removal of the dongle from the parallel port.

Abstract: An adapter for lamps and other electrical devices to be installed in standard lampsockets which prevents unauthorized removal of such lamps or other electrical devices. A screwshell means is placed upon a body member such that relative rotation between them is possible. A tool or key placed in aligned slots or keyways prevents relative rotation so that the adapter can be installed or removed from a lampsocket. The tool or key is then removed permitting relative rotation again, whereby the lamp or other electrical device cannot be removed from the lampsocket. Use of the tool or key fixes the two components with respect to one another and the adapter can be removed.

  • Patent number: 5486120
Abstract: A device is provided for firmly attaching a plurality of coaxial cable terminus to a plurality of standard connection jacks in such a way that each connection point is effectively shielded from tampering by individuals and is effectively sealed from degrading elements in the atmosphere. The device is a locking shroud which defines a plurality of locking shroud chambers, each being adapted to attach to a respective connection jack so as to surround the connection of a cable terminus to the jack. Each locking shroud chamber is attached to one other locking shroud chamber by a flexible web disposed in a curved plane. Because of the flexible webs, the locking shroud can be easily adjusted to fit any standard coaxial cable multiple connection equipment. The use of the locking shroud of the invention makes it difficult to de-attach and/or re-attach the cable terminus to the jack without special tooling.

The apparatus includes a substantially uncuttable flexible tubular member for receiving a cable therein. First and second elongated housing sleeves are mounted on opposed ends of the flexible tubular member for connection to the equipment and a separate base unit or a fixture. Each housing sleeve has a pair of parallel passages, a first of which receives the flexible tubular member therein and a second of which receives specially actuable rotatably operable locking means. According to this invention, a planar lip surrounding the first passage in each housing sleeve is retained in tightly abutted engagement with the equipment or the base unit or fixture as applicable so that no space is available for prying or tampering with the cable connections which are completely enclosed in the housing sleeves.
