Hinged Or Flexed Detent On Insulation Engaging To Secure Contact Within Coupling Part Housing Patents (Class 439/595)
  • Patent number: 8147279
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having a plurality of terminal passages. Each terminal passage has a deflectable latch for securing the terminal within the passage and is configured to permit an electrical terminal to be inserted into the passage. Openings are provided proximate the deflectable latches, with each opening extending from a first terminal passage of the plurality of terminal passages to an adjacent second terminal passage. Projections extend from side surfaces of the terminal passages, with at least one projection extending into each terminal passage. At least one projection is positioned to cooperate with a side surface of a respective deflectable latch to prevent the deflectable latch from being overstressed. The openings and the projections allow the terminal passages to be closely spaced thereby reducing the size of the connector while providing overstress protection for the deflectable latches.

  • Patent number: 8087948
Abstract: A connector housing that is reduced in size in correspondence with reduction in size of a terminal. When a connecting terminal to which an electric wire and a waterproof sealing member are attached is inserted into a terminal accommodating hole from an terminal insertion opening, a step of the waterproof sealing member abuts against a step of the terminal insertion opening and also a taper surface meets a taper surface, preventing water from entering the terminal accommodating hole from the backside. In this state, the waterproof sealing member is pressed toward a connector housing by a rear holder to prevent the waterproof sealing member from falling out of position. Thus, because the terminal insertion opening is sealed, with a part of the waterproof sealing member placed outside the connector housing, the lateral width and vertical width of the terminal accommodating hole can be set to the magnitudes that substantially allow the connecting terminal to pass through the hole.

Abstract: A connector includes a body, a terminal base and a fixing base. The body has a terminal base groove consisting of a circular portion and a square portion suited to the profile of the terminal base. A protective base is provided to protect a first tenon from erroneously touched. A second tenon is utilized to engage with an annular recessed groove of the terminal base to combine the body with the terminal base in a first stage. The body has two sides having a first engaging projecting member and plural second engaging projecting members for engaging with those of the fixing base to complete a two-step engagement to enable the body, the terminal base and the fixing base combined together. The fixing base includes plural projecting-out rods and projecting-up rods to make the body combined with the fixing base, facilitating the connector conveniently assembled.

  • Patent number: 7766697
Abstract: Retaining projections are formed on and project outwardly in a right-left direction respectively from right and left side walls of a spacer. The retaining projections are used for achieving a provisionally-retained condition and a completely-retained condition of the spacer. When the side walls are elastically deformed, the retaining projections slide over respective retaining portions of a connector housing to thereby achieve the retained condition. The side walls which can be elastically deformed inwardly in the forward-rearward direction form portions of right and left outermost terminal passage holes, and therefore must hold respective metal terminals, respectively. Therefore, holding projections are formed on and project inwardly in the right-left direction respectively from the side walls. These terminal holding projections serve to hold the respective metal terminals in predetermined positions.
