Screw-thread Operated Patents (Class 439/762)
  • Patent number: 5088941
Abstract: A connector which is used to electrically connect one or more cables with the post of a battery has two jaws which are integral at one of their ends and define a gap with their other ends. The median portions of the jaws define an opening for the post. The other ends of the jaws are movable relative to each other to thereby deform the jaws and move their median portions into and from engagement with a post in the opening. Such movements are effected by a screw or nut which is accessible from the upper sides of the jaws and is rotatable about an axis which is parallel to the axis of the post in the opening. Conversion of rotary movements of the screw or nut into substantially translatory movements of the other ends and median portions of the jaws toward or away from each other is effected by a cam and follower assembly.

  • Patent number: 5087214
Abstract: A battery post connector having a body member formed from sheet metal comprising a clamp section for attachment to a terminal post and a base section for rigid connection to a battery cable. The clamp section has an inner surface adapted to grippingly engage a battery post to inhibit angular rotation and includes elongated slots disposed oblique to the central axis of the battery post with opposite edges adapted to penetrate the battery post and a coined pattern extending adjacent and parallel to the slots. The terminal is clamped to the battery post by a nut and bolt assembly with the nut being force fit mounted to the clamp section for good electrical continuity therewith and heat sink characteristics and the bolt having a captured bolt head for positive mechanical opening of the connector.

  • Patent number: 4959031
Abstract: A battery terminal post clamp is provided and consists of a pair of inwardly curved arms having crossed end portions. The arms are pivotaly connected at their lower ends in a spaced apart relationship on one of two mounting plates. The mounting plates are attached together to fit and grip an electrical conductor of a battery cable. A finger engaging portion having an aperture therethrough is affixed to each crossed end portion of each arm so that a guide bolt can extend through each aperture with a guide nut threaded on the end of the shank. A coil compression spring is arranged on shank of the guide bolt between the finger engaging portions. The spring urges the finger engaging portions apart causing the arms to move towards each other to grip a terminal post until a person squeezes the finger engaging portions together to compress the spring and disengage the arms from the terminal post.

  • Patent number: 4894028
Abstract: A C-shaped clamp having elongated flanges at its ends defining the open portion of the "C". A bolt is inserted through holes provided in the flanges. A nut tightened on the bolt against one of the flanges compresses the C-shaped clamp. A U-shaped key slideably fitted in a lengthwise slot in the threaded end of the bolt engages the inside wall of one flange and the outwardly facing side of the nut and pulls the flanges apart when the nut is loosened on the bolt thus expanding the C-shaped clamp.
