Patent number: 4738628Abstract: A grounding mechanism for an electrical connector having a metal generally U-shaped spring contact mounted on a cylindrical rubber or neoprene connector body which is connected directly to the internal ground contact within the connector body. Resilient tips on the body act to bias the free ends of the spring contact outwardly. The free ends of the spring contact stay in contact with a rotatable collar mounted over the body due to the compressed nature of the pre-formed metal spring contact, as well as the radially outward force of the resilient connector body tips acting on the free ends of the spring contact.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Cooper IndustriesInventor: David G. Patent number: 4690479Abstract: A filtered electrical header assembly for circuit boards. The assembly includes a housing supporting a plurality of terminals, filter means electrically coupled to the terminals, grounding means coupled to the filter means, and at least one conductive fastener for attaching the grounding means to the housing, for providing a means for mounting the housing to a circuit board, and for providing a grounding path from the grounding means through the at least one fastener to the circuit board. Two embodiments are disclosed: one employing tubular filter elements surrounding conductor pins, another employing a monolithic planar capacitor in contact with conductor pins. The invention permits a filtering capability to be incorporated into a standardized header assembly without affecting standardization.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 1985Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventors: Robert D. Patent number: RE33903Abstract: A self-stripping electrical connector has a grounded bar formed with at least one threaded bore, a dielectric lower support part secured to the bar over the bore and formed with two adjacent outwardly open lower guide passages, a pair of electrically conductive and generally parallel lower tubes having lower ends formed with slots aligned with the respective lower passages and upper ends also formed with slots, and respective guides on the lower support part carrying the tubes for movement toward and away from the bar with the lower-end slots aligned with the respective lower passages. A dielectric upper support part overlies the lower part and is formed with two adjacent outwardly open upper guide passages aligned with the upper-end slots of the respective tubes.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Carpano & PonsInventor: Yves Saligny
