  • Patent number: 8215951
Abstract: A burner surface and creation method are provided. The burner surface includes a frame with a compact layer of unsintered metal and ceramic fibers that have been vacuum cast to a surface of the frame. The layer of unsintered metal and ceramic fibers is not greater than 0.5 inches, and is created without using substantial amounts of polymer pore forming or binding agents. The frame and compact layer additionally include a plurality of apertures that form holes through the burner surface plate.

  • Patent number: 8114512
Abstract: Blackened layers 23A and 23B are formed by depositing Cu—Co alloy particles on the surfaces of a metal layer 21. The metal layer 21 coated with the blackened layers 23A and 23B of the Cu—Co alloy particles is subjected to a chromating process to form density-intensifying layers 25A and 25B on the blackened layers 23A and 23B. A base 11 is laminated to the density-intensifying layer 25A or 25B. A conductive structure 109 consisting of the meal layer 21, the blackened layers 23A and 23B, and the density-intensifying layers 25A and 25B is processed by a photolithographic process to complete an electromagnetic shielding sheet 1 having a mesh conductive structure.

  • Publication number: 20040242096
Abstract: A composite material having a polymer or a metal matrix wherein reinforcement is achieved by one or more of a net or a mesh or a screen structure. Openings in the net structure are filled with the matrix to form a good mechanical bond. High strength and high modulus wires, preferably steel wires can be used to make the net structure. Nets can be placed at a desired plane with respect to the neutral axis of the structure to optimize bending and other properties.

  • Publication number: 20040242095
Abstract: A composite material having a polymer or a metal matrix is proposed where reinforcement is achieved by one or more of a net or a mesh or a screen structure. Openings in the net structure facilitates good mechanical bond with matrix. High strength and high modulus wires, preferably steel wires can be used to make the net structure. Nets can be placed at a desired plane with respect to the neutral axis of the structure to optimize bending and other properties. In a 5.6 mm thick polyester resin based matrix, placing steel wire nets at approximately 1 mm under each sides, increased bending stiffness by a factor of 2, while increasing density from 1.3 to 1.

  • Patent number: 6176964
Abstract: An acoustic liner employable in jet engine housing construction for sound absorption such as for inclusion in nacelle components. The liner has a solid backface sheet having a surface to which is attached a first side of a honeycomb core structure. Attached to the opposing second side of the honeycomb core structure is a mesh structure to which is attached a perforated face sheet to be exposed to the exterior. As is thus apparent, the liner of the present invention provides a mesh situated below a protective perforate sheet. This construction produces an acoustic liner having substantially the efficiency of a linear liner system and the durability of a perforate face sheet system.

  • Patent number: 5939172
Abstract: A screen material is described which is formed by cladding, using electroplating, a structure composed of strands or fibers. The structure may incorporate a knit, woven or nonwoven material or, alternatively, of strands or fibres welded together, wound strands or fibers. The structure may be subjected to a calendering operation. The screen material, after having been provided, if required, with an electrically conductive cladding, is provided with a metal layer in an electroplating operation under conditions in which an overgrowth ratio R greater than 1 is achieved. The invention also describes a method for manufacturing such a screen material which preferably involves making use of an electroplating bath for depositing a metal cladding on a starting material in which a chemical compound is present which increases the overgrowth ratio R. The method can be implemented using a variety of conditions which can lead to an overgrowth ratio R of a desired value.
