Changeable Book, Card, Or Picture Patents (Class 446/147)
  • Patent number: 4830619
Abstract: A table setting display guide for coordinating table settings and dinnerware plate patterns. The table setting display guide includes a first page which illustrates at least one table setting having an opening at the position where a dinnerware plate would be set. A second page is provided which illustrates a plurality of dinnerware plate patterns, which patterns are sized to correspond to the size of the opening in the first page. The opening in the first page is selectively positionable on the second page to permit viewing of each dinnerware plate pattern in conjunction with the table setting.

  • Patent number: 4774780
Abstract: A self-erecting pop-up stationery display structure assembly bonded to an underlying stationery sheet supports a display panel positioned overlying the stationery sheet. The collapsible self-erecting support has a central panel spanning the space between the stationery sheet and the overlying display panel, with first and second end panels joined to it by respective first and second fold lines, the first being formed of resilient elastomer leaf spring sheet material with a preformed angular bend formed therein. A collapsing force causes the central panel to fold toward the stationery sheet, elastically deforming the preformed angular bend in the resilient elastomer sheet. Removal of the collapsing force releases the deformed angular bend, which returns elastically to its preformed bend configuration, positioning the display panel in a deployed position spaced from the stationery panel.

  • Patent number: 4597743
Abstract: A free-standing rolling book comprises plural sheets, bound along one marginal edge. In the preferred embodiment, the book cover includes printed matter depicting a wheeled vehicle having wheel wells disposed adjacent the bottom edge of the book. Respective wheels are rotatably cantilever mounted at each of the wheel wells. The dimensions of the sheets and the wheel span of the wheels are selected such that the wheels support the sheets in a free-standing position so as to permit the book to roll without external support. The wheel span should be at least two-sevenths of the distance between the center of gravity of the book and the wheel-supporting surface, and, in the preferred embodiment, is one-seventh of the book's height.

  • Patent number: 4540375
Abstract: A graphic arts toy including a string retaining sketch pad, an elongated string, and means for storing, dispensing and retracting the string. The string retaining sketch pad comprises a flexible, plate-like element having a plurality of upwardly extending, flexible fingers on its top. The fingers are arrayed in equally spaced, parallel, transverse rows. The means for storing, dispensing and retracting the string comprises a string storage, dispensing and retracting pencil having a housing, a string storage dispensing and retracting reel rotatably mounted in the housing, and a string dispensing and retracting tube with one of its ends in the housing and the other of its ends exterior to the housing. When the tube is moved between a pair of fingers, the fingers are flexed apart and the string dispensed there between. The fingers return to their normal position to grip and hold the string after the tube moves to the next pair of fingers.

  • Patent number: 4537576
Abstract: An educational book providing interaction between graphic information contained on reference elements rotatably attached to a base leaf and a second set of graphic information contained on apertured leaves. The apertured leaves superimpose the base leaf and reference elements, such that the apertures are visually aligned with the reference elements. The second set of graphic information areas are juxtaposed with respect to the apertures of the leaves to combined with the graphic information of the reference elements visible through said apertures. To maintain this alignment, the apertured leaves and base leaf are rotatably bound together at one end by a binding mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4531319
Abstract: A novelty greeting card with a hanging mobile configuration constructed of planar semirigid flexible material comprised of two hingedly connected side members. These side members have base portions which are bent into a perpendicular position to overlap and form a base foundation. This base portion supports an upper structure from which the hanging mobile or other visual attraction is suspended. The card and the hanging mobile are printed with appropriate visual indicia of a coordinated nature to enhance and complete the presentation of the card.

  • Patent number: 4487590
Abstract: A children's book includes printed matter which cooperates with structural features of the book. The printed matter depicts, e.g. a scene from the driver's seat of a vehicle, including, e.g., as a steering wheel and instrument panel. Openings are formed, adjacent to the edge of the steering wheel, within the area bounded by such wheel, so that a child can place his fingers through those openings and, in effect, grasp the steering wheel. The child, therefore, can imagine himself as guiding the vehicle with the steering wheel as he reads the book.
