  • Patent number: 6088944
Abstract: An apparatus for oscillating a flotation device on a body of water comprising attaching a rigid extension having a buoyancy container to the flotation device, placing the flotation device in the body of water such that the buoyancy container is filled with water and the flotation device and rigid extension rotate to a vertical position, and pumping gas continuously to the buoyancy container such that the buoyancy container will rise to the surface, rotating the flotation device and rigid extension to a horizontal position, thereby causing the buoyancy container to fill with water, further causing the flotation device and rigid extension to rotate to the vertical position, and to so oscillate between the vertical and horizontal positions continuously.

  • Patent number: 5566491
Abstract: An animating device is attached underneath a floating waterfowl decoy that creates rings, ripples, and waves on the water surface emanating from said decoy giving the appearance that said decoy is alive. In accordance with one embodiment of the device, a long, flexible plastic tube is attached or retrofit to the keel of an existing floating decoy. An apparatus, such as a motor driven pump, a pressurized air cylinder, or a hand- or foot-operated bellows air pump supplies air to the tube and a one-way check valve is provided in the end of tube attached to the decoy to prevent water from back-filling the long flexible plastic tube. Air forced through the long flexible plastic tube bubbles out underneath the decoy and the rising bubbles create rings, ripples, and waves on the water surface to give the appearance that the decoy is alive. In another embodiment, the tube is attached to flexible container mounted under the decoy.

  • Patent number: 4919637
Abstract: A model submarine has an inherent "fail safe" feature, so that the submarine (if submerged) will rise to its periscope depth in the event the submarine encounters a stationary object, or in the event a power failure occurs. Power is supplied by a single submersible motor-pump unit within a free-flooding hull. The motor-pump unit supplies a pressurized water discharge for, first, forward propulsion of the submarine via the discharge nozzle of an ejector pump; and second, for hydraulic control of the diving and steering maneuvers. The ejector pump has a venturi for aspirating fluid out of the ballast tank. An automatic depth control feature assures that the submarine will level off to a desired predetermined depth when a diving command signal is given; and the desired predetermined depth is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4455782
Abstract: A cartesian toy including at least one partly transparent liquid container in which there is at least one freely floating body movable by buoyancy changes. This is variable in that an air bladder located in a cavity of the floating body casing is compressible to a greater or lesser extent by the liquid pressure in the liquid container being varied by a pressurizing device. When this device causes expansion of the air bladder or the air zone located in the floating body, liquid flowing out of the floating body casing additionally imparts to the floating body or parts thereof by recoil or reaction force an in particular horizontally directed acceleration or movement. Also, particularly sized and arranged casing parts on the floating body cause this body to move in one rotary direction or the other when the casing parts contact the container or objects in the container.
