  • Patent number: 7300337
Abstract: A grinding machine with a dust collector includes a driving portion, a transmitting portion, a dust-collecting tube, a fender, an air intake connector and a grinding wheel. The dust produced by the rotation of the grinding wheel is sucked by the dust-collecting tube having an inner tube. The inner tube is interconnected with an exhaust vent of the driving portion and the dust-discharging opening. An outlet of the inner tube is parallel to an airflow passage of the dust-discharging opening, such that when an exhaust gas is discharged from the inner tube, a siphon effect is produced at the airflow passage of the dust-collecting tube to suck and collect the dusts produced by the grinding wheel.

  • Patent number: 7282074
Abstract: An auxiliary dust collection system can be interposed between a sander or other dust producing tool and a vacuum source, e.g., shop vacuum. This auxiliary system has a cyclonic separator connected by a flexible hose to the tool and by another hose to the vacuum source. The cone of the separator is mounted onto the lid of a drum into which the dust precipitates. For a tool that has its own blower, the vacuum source can be omitted, and the air leaving the outlet duct of the separator can be filtered and returned to the ambient. A drop in silencer formed of a sleeve or tube of acoustic foam can be positioned into the inlet side of a filter cartridge following a cyclonic separator. The silencer absorbs a significant fraction of the process noise.

  • Patent number: 6921438
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner attachment and method of use thereof provides an effective cleaning system for fungi and the like. A vacuum paddle extension enables the attachment to travel into narrow cracks and crevices where fungus may grow and by use of an abrasive and porous pad dislodges such fungus or fungi. When attached to a vacuum system, such as a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air-Filtered) vacuum system, the debris and particulate matter generated by the abrasive process is drawn into the vacuum attachment and into the vacuum system where it is removed from the air which is then expelled by the vacuum system. Better cleaning of surfaces afflicted with fungi, molds, and the like is then achieved in a manner that is safer and more effective.

  • Patent number: 6921320
Abstract: The systems for reducing dust emissions include a dust catch. In some cases, the dust catch includes an inlet and a discharger. The inlet can be arranged so that it surrounds an abrasive surface of an abrasion device, such as a sander. Dust generated by the abrasion surface can be captured in the inlet and discharged by the discharger. In various cases, the inlet is associated with a skirt including a dust screen. The methods can include attaching a dust catch to an abrasion device such that an inlet of the dust catch encompasses at least a portion of an outer perimeter of an abrasion surface associated with an abrasion device. The abrasion device can then be operated and at least a portion of dust generated by operating the abrasion device is captured by the dust catch.

  • Patent number: 6916236
Abstract: A machine (10) for performing a working operation such as cutting on a workpiece. The machine (10) has a tool (19) for performing the working operation and a drive motor (13) operable to drive the tool. The drive motor (13) has an exhaust (17) through which an exhaust fluid is discharged during operation. Means (51) are provided for delivering a dust suppression fluid such as water into the vicinity of the tool (19) for suppressing dust generated thereby. A shroud (31) is disposed about the tool (19) for containing dust and the dust suppression fluid, and an extraction line (61) communicates with the shroud (71) for extracting dust and dust suppression fluid contained thereby, as well as air within the shroud. The extraction line (61) further communicates with the exhaust (17) of the drive motor (13) for receiving the exhaust fluid discharging therefrom, the exhaust fluid mixing with the air strength flowing from the shroud.

  • Patent number: 6896604
Abstract: A dust abatement vacuum hood, provided for a flush-cutting concrete saw, includes a rigid shell that is preferably either vacuum formed or injection molded from a tough polymeric material that may be reinforced with structural fibers. Alternatively, the vacuum hood may be stamped or cast from a durable metal. The vacuum hood is equipped with a vacuum port to which one end of a vacuum hose may be attached. The opposite end of the vacuum hose is attached to a vacuum cleaner system. The vacuum hood has a spring-mounted attachment bracket that can be bolted directly to the concrete saw. As the blade of the concrete saw rotates, pulverized concrete is discharged into a chamber opening of the vacuum hood. Internally, the vacuum hood is shaped so that the pulverized concrete is directed toward the vacuum port, from where it is directed to the vacuum cleaner system.

Abstract: The dust removal device comprises a fan (18), a dust collection receptacle (24), and a suction passage (28). The dust collection receptacle (24) equipped with a dust filter (26) is located in the path of air flow (34, 36) between the suction passage (28) and the fan (18). The dust is therefore filtered out of the air stream before it reaches the fan, which prevents dust-induced wear. It is also possible to use the same fan for engine cooling as well as dust removal.
