Abstract: Grinding heads rotate about central axes, have surfaces between plane and cylindrical surfaces provided with retainer grooves for edge profile parts of a number of abrasive paper members with associated support brushes. Abrasive paper members are mounted at angles of 20-40°, preferably about 30°, directed obliquely forward in the direction of rotation of the plane surface and a tangential plane of the cylindrical surface. Retainer grooves for edge profile parts of the abrasive paper members extend obliquely rearward in the direction of rotation of the plane surface at an angle of 3-10° relative to a radial extension. Alternatively, the retainer grooves extend obliquely rearward in the direction of rotation of the cylindrical surface at an angle of 3-10° relative to an axially parallel generatrix of the cylindrical surface. In a simple way a more optimal abrading of particularly outer side edges and edge areas of plate-shaped items is readily achieved.

Abstract: A structure for a backing plate of an abrasive disk is disclosed. The structure includes layers of abrasive resin interspersed with layers of reinforcing fiberglass. The layers are generally disk shaped and cover certain radial intervals of the entire backing plate between the inner diameter and the outer diameter. For example, a radial stress profile plotting the stress along a radial line from inner to outer diameter can be determined. The amount and radial positioning of reinforcing layers (e.g., reinforcing fiberglass) may then be determined. An appropriate amount of reinforcing layers may then be placed within the radial intervals that experience the highest stress.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a grinding brush fixing device applying to a pneumatic tool for surface treatment. The spacing between the fixing arms and arc plates of the brush holder is reduced. Thereby, the press-fit face of the axially-extending fixing arm can press the brush collar onto the first press-fit edge and second press-fit edge, which are at two sides of the notches between two axially-extending arc plates. Further, a flexible gasket is radially placed in a space between the fixing arms and the arc plates. When the fixing disc is fastened to the brush holder, the flexible gasket and the brush collar are tightly compressed and firmly secured. Thus, force can be uniformly applied onto the brush collar and the bristles. The present invention can promote the stability of brush's rotation, generate straighter ground strips, prolong the durability of the grinding brush and grinding brush fixing device, and promote the grinding efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7169027
Abstract: A cylindrical drum has at its circumferential edge a number of recesses, each adapted for accommodating a replaceable grinding element including a retainer in which is mounted a sandpaper, support brushes and/or retainer brushes. The recesses in the cylindrical drum are made with side walls. The retainer is made with corresponding outer side walls. During use, by wedge action between the side walls of the recesses and the outer side walls of the retainer, a squeezing force on the side walls of the retainer directed in the circumferential direction arises. The retainer is designed with grooves for fastening at least one sandpaper, and the grooves extend from an upper side of the retainer and into the retainer for forming at least one elastic and pliable flap which is disposed between the grooves and at least one outer side wall.

  • Patent number: 7004829
Abstract: The flapped grinding disk comprises a disk- or plate-shaped support and grinding flaps which overlap each other on the support in the manner of shingles and which are secured in an adhesive bed. Apertures are cut away on the periphery of the flapped grinding disk, the apertures have approximately the form of a part of an annulus with a front edge and an edge at the rear in the direction of rotation of the grinding disk and at least the edge of the apertures that is at the rear in the direction of rotation of the grinding disk runs approximately radially. The grinding flap adjoining the rear edge of the aperture can form a ramp. The front edge of the apertures can also run approximately radially. The radial depth of the apertures can be equal to the radial extent of the grinding flaps, so that no remnants of grinding flaps remain at the inner edge of the apertures.
