Rotatable Patents (Class 451/516)
  • Patent number: 11052424
Abstract: A paint trencher includes a main body, an abrasive body, and a handle. The main body includes a top panel, a bottom panel, and a support. The abrasive body, preferably a beveled-elongated body, is adjacently mounted to the support in order to cut into the wall. The handle is mounted to the top panel so that applied pressure of the main body can be transferred into the abrasive body thus cutting a trench into the wall. A felt pad is perimetrically attached around the bottom panel so that the surrounding wall area of the trench can be protected from unnecessary scratches.

  • Patent number: 8894469
Abstract: A burnishing element is clamped to a lower surface of a bottom plate of a sanding machine and placed into tension through use of a first clamping mechanism and a second clamping mechanism that are positioned at two ends of the bottom plate, respectively. At least one of the first and second clamping mechanisms has a clamping element and a tensioning element which is used for tensioning the burnishing element. The bottom plate has a clamping area. The ends of the burnishing element are supported on the clamping area when the burnishing element is in placed into tension by the tensioning element.

  • Patent number: 7192338
Abstract: A tool for co-operating with a fixing device wherein the tool comprises a tool body in the form of a circular disk, with a central opening and a radially inwardly facing locking surface. The fixing device comprises at least one radially outwardly facing projection of a locking element, which can be actuated manually and with which the fixing device can be releasably connected to the tool. In the locking position the at least one radially outwardly facing projection of the fixing device engages over the inwardly facing locking surface of the tool. The tool body is axially secured and held non-rotatably relative to the fixing device. The at least one radially outwardly facing projection of the fixing device and a support for the tool are arranged axially displaceably relative to each other, wherein the axial displacement travel is blockable by a centrifugal force device.

  • Patent number: 6663479
Abstract: A hand held tool using continuous sanding belts for sanding and smoothing flat surfaces with the additional capability to produce more uniformly rounded edges and corners of various work pieces. Its two piece construction comprises a flat base plate rotationally attached to the bottom side of a housing. The housing has along the length of its top side a deep channel into which a portion of a mounted sanding belt may be wedged, creating a concave sanding surface, that can then be used to produce more uniformly rounded edges and corners. The housing is made of a resilient, compressible material, while the base plate is of a rigid structure. The tool incorporates a way for placing and tensioning continuous sanding belts on it by simply swiveling the base plate that is attached to the bottom of the housing, which by such rotational positioning compresses the compressible material of the housing, or releases it, thus applying or releasing tension on a mounted belt.

  • Patent number: 6638151
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polishing instrument for polishing a surface into a predetermined configuration. The present invention aims to provide a polishing instrument superior in operability and stability and capable of polishing a surface into a desired configuration. The polishing instrument of the present invention includes: a rotatable rotary substrate portion equipped with a polishing plane holding a polishing material on its surface; a plurality of movable substrate portions equipped with polishing planes which hold the polishing material on their surfaces, which are provided in the peripheral edge of the rotary substrate portion, and which rotate about a connection line connecting them to the rotary substrate portion; and elastic members for biasing the polishing planes of the movable substrate portions toward a position where they are flush with the polishing plane of the rotary substrate portion.

  • Patent number: 5667428
Abstract: A machine for simultaneously milling and grinding a workpiece comprises milling and grinding wheels rotatable about respective first and second parallel axes, the second axis being offset radially with respect to the first axis. A single motor drives the milling and grinding wheels at different relative speeds. The grinding wheel is mounted to a hub which includes an axially flexible portion to enable the grinding surface to be axially adjusted. The milling wheel includes an array of milling cutters with a large gap formed between leading and trailing ones of the milling cutters to accommodate the offset grinding wheel. The radial spacing of the milling cutters from the axis of rotation of the milling wheel progressively increases from the leading milling cutter to the trailing milling cutter.

  • Patent number: 5567197
Abstract: A soft sanding roller apparatus is provided with a soft compressible sanding sleeve and roller that allows a wide flat to form on the side of the sanding sleeve being pushed against a substrate, such as a piece of wood. The preferred sleeve is backed by a soft deformable layer, such as a soft foam layer, which allows the sanding sleeve to conform to the surface of the substrate without chattering or digging into the substrate. The sleeve has a bore diameter smaller than the uncompressed diameter of the soft foam layer so that the foam layer exerts an even force on the cylindrical sleeve to retain its cylindrical shape. The sleeve is driven by a connection such as a one-way clutch between the sanding sleeve and the foam layer on the roller. The roller is rotated in one direction by a motor to do sanding with the one-way clutch driving the sleeve. The sleeve is removed by turning it in a direction opposite to the sanding direction and pulling it axially against the force from the compressed foam layer.
