  • Patent number: 7632174
Abstract: A sander comprises a body member molded of polypropylene to which a soft pad member is integrally molded or directly bonded thereto. Preferably, the material comprising the pad member is of a thermoplastic elastomer material, such as Santoprene®. Significantly, when the pad member is molded directly to the body member, the pad has internal dimensions only slightly larger than the external dimensions of the body member so that, when the body member is located within the confines of the pad member, a secure fit is formed between these two members, without any space between them. Further, the respective dimensions of the body member and pad member give the sander a thick, one-piece appearance in side and end views. The pad member may also include a plurality of openings which help provide a “spongy” effect to the user, smoothing the peaks and reaching the valleys of an uneven surface upon which the sander is utilized.

Abstract: A corner sander base including a sanding surface, the corner sander base for sanding proximate interior wallboard corners, the corner sander base including a first member and a second member connected together at a longitudinally oriented juncture where they form a tip, one side of the members defining a sanding surface. Each member further includes a planar forward section which in the radial direction originates at the juncture and terminates at a longitudinally oriented transition wherein a forward angle is the angle subtended between the planar forward sections in the radial plane. Each member further includes a planar rear section originating at the transition and connected to the forward section at the transition wherein a rear angle is the angle subtended between the planar rear sections in the radial plane and wherein the forward and rear angles selected to more aggressively sand the areas at the rear sections and less aggressively sand the area at the tip and forward section.

  • Patent number: 7591715
Abstract: A hand-held, manually-operated sanding tool including a base member, a clamping mechanism, and a tab. The clamping mechanism is pivotally mounted to the base member, in alignment with a contact surface thereof such that the clamping mechanism pivots between a closed position and an open position in which a gap is defined between the clamping mechanism and the contact surface. The tab extends at least partially between the contact surface and the clamping mechanism, and establishes a stop surface that positively positions an edge of a sheet of abrasive material relative to an end of the base member as part of a loading operation.

  • Patent number: 7517274
Abstract: A right handed or left handed sanding block can be provided individually or as a mirror image pair. Each block includes a grasp handle and a fastening surface engaging a replaceable sanding pad. Each handle includes a pair of cove box channels to fit the fingers of the user. These channels have forward and rear finger stops located at opposite sides. The channel positions are mirror image reversed for the right hand and left hand blocks. The forward stop provides a rest for the thumb and the front vertical surface provides a rest for the index finger. A rear finger stop provides a rest for a tip of another finger. The block is a truncated rectangle with an offset edge. The short side of the block provides a safety harbor clearance when the other hand of the user grasps the work piece.

  • Publication number: 20090061750
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the deep cleaning of surfaces, which comprises a support for at least two reservoirs arranged side-by-side and provided with deformable walls having uniformly perforated faces essentially facing the direction of the surface to be cleaned. At least one reservoir can contain a granular material for cleaning the surface and at least one reservoir can contain a fluid substance for the flowing of the granular material onto the surface. By means of the pressure exerted by a user on a support of the reservoirs in the direction of the surface to be cleaned, the granular material and the fluid substance flow from the corresponding reservoirs and are mixed together on the surface to be cleaned. A tangential movement of the reservoirs onto the surface conveys a compound of granular material and fluid substance onto the surface with a cleaning effect.
