  • Patent number: 8979617
Abstract: An arrangement (1) including a tool (7) and a feeler device (11) is movably guided along the edge of a workpiece (5) so that the workpiece is machined, for example, trimmed, along the edges (3) of the workpiece by the tool. The arrangement (1) can be adjusted perpendicularly to the plane of the workpiece, whereas the feeler device, which is designed for example as a Bernoulli disk (13), has a constant distance from the workpiece, so that the tool also is always guided at the correct position relative to the edge of the workpiece. Thus even for workpieces deviating from the target position, for example workpieces that are not level, the tool is always guided in such a way that the tool is correctly oriented relative to the center plane of the workpiece and, for example, the trimming of the borders at the edges of the workpiece is performed reliably.

  • Patent number: 6280309
Abstract: Accessories for an angle grinder include a tool comprising a rotary disk having releasably attached to its surface, an annular attachment having a cutting or abrading, (“shaping”), surface, and rest means in a rest zone for supporting the grinder on a surface to be shaped. The rest means may be a non-rotating nose beneath the grinder; a rubbing contact mounted on a flat tool or simply part of the surface of a convex tool. Tilting the grinder about the rest means gives effective control of the tool. Steeper tilts cause the cutting or abrading surface to bite more deeply into the surface to be shaped. The grinder is preferably stroked toward the user with the cutting or abrading zone trailing. Most disks are perforated. Work to be shaped can be seen through the spinning disk during use. The annular attachment can have a variety of cutting or abrading surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5660582
Abstract: This invention is a tool designed to sharpen rotary cutter blades. In a first embodiment, an inside-threaded clamp is screwed down upon the blade, pressing it tightly against a platform from which a threaded shank rises, and holding the blade from turning. When an upper casing containing an inside angled abrasive strip is lowered over the clamp until contact is made against the blade surface, the abrasive strip is brought into contact with the blade edge. When the upper casing is rotated around the tightened clamp, the abrasive acts upon the blade edge and thereby sharpens the edge. A second embodiment is comprised of a blade holder for holding the cutting blade stationary and a ring member with an abrasive strip which fits around the blade holder such that the abrasive strip contacts the edge of the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 5655957
Abstract: A sharpening machine for sharpening the cutting edges of instruments, particularly the curved inner cutting edges of dental instruments, to obtain an arbitrary wedge angle. A grinding disk is provided with both a plane surface and a radiused outer edge. A shaft extension extends above the plane of the grinding disk and serves to support the instrument as it is being sharpened. The longitudinal axis of the instrument is displaced away from the axis of rotation of the shaft extension by an offset one-half distance equal to the diameter of the shaft extension thereby determining an offset angle of the longitudinal axis of the instrument with respect to the grinding disk and thus the wedge angle of sharpening of the curved inner edge of the instrument. In order to facilitate the sharpening of the curved inner edge of the instrument, the outer edge of the grinding disk is formed with a radius shorter than the radius of curvature of the instrument.
