  • Patent number: 7887397
Abstract: A knife sharpening bar includes a handle that carries a support bar. A flexible tube is tightly fit over the support bar. A hollow ceramic bar is then fit over the flexible tube with an inside surface of the ceramic bar tightly engaging the flexible tube so that the flexible tube provides a cushioning support between the support bar and the ceramic bar, which protects the ceramic bar from directly bearing any external impact applied to the knife sharpening bar. An internally-threaded cap engages an externally-threaded free end of the support bar and abuts against the ceramic bar to thereby secure the ceramic bar in position on the support bar. Collars or other buffering members can be positioned at opposite ends of the ceramic bar.

  • Patent number: 7503241
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for sharpening the blade of a manual cutting tool, in particular a knife. The inventive device comprises a support (2) provided with a cutout (4). Identical sharpening levers are arranged on each side of the cutout in front and in staggering manner with respect to each other and provided with a curved arm (13) having a rectilinear end edge (14) and another arm (16) forming means for returning in a position by gravity. Each lever (11) is pivotally mounted in the jointing area (15) of the arms (13, 16) around an geometrical axis which is generally perpendicular to a longitudinal direction (A-A?) of the cutout and a slot (5). Said device is particularly adapter to the agriculture and food industry.

  • Publication number: 20080242204
Abstract: A multi-tasking disk which in one form is used primarily with a powered hand tool to remove measured amounts of material from the surface of a work piece, and, in another form, serving as a buffing tool for removing minute amounts of skin from feet, elbows and the like on a human, or removal of like minute amounts from vegetables. Each disk is formed with an array of either abrading or buffing elements in which each element involves a series of projections having sharpened edges raised above the surface of the disk to accomplish removal of material from the surface upon which it is engaged.

  • Patent number: 6616520
Abstract: A polishing cloth includes: a polishing cloth substrate; a first-pressure adhesive layer formed on a back face of the polishing cloth substrate; as support formed on a back face of the first pressure-sensitive adhesive layer; a second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on a back face of the support; and a release sheet releasably attached to the second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The second pressure-sensitive adhesive layer includes an adhesive composition. The adhesive composition contains a pressure-sensitive adhesive and a side-chain crystallizable polymer so that the side-china crystallizable polymer is present in an amount of about 1% to about 30% by weight based on the adhesive composition. The side-chain crystallizable polymer includes as a main component thereof an acrylic acid ester and/or methacrylic acid ester which has a straight-chain alkyl group including 16 or more carbon atoms as a side chain.

  • Patent number: 6358123
Abstract: A honing head for microburnishing surface of a recording/reproducing disc to a smoothness at which asperities are limited to submicron heights including a hardened contact bearing surface having an array of depressions with abrupt trailing edges interconnected by recessed channels leading outwardly from the honing head. The array of channels span a band in which an asperity may be present, and the sharp edges shear off the asperities within the band which extend above the chosen submicroinch height, with the separated particulates being passed through the recesses and channel system to the outer edge of the honing head. The trailing edges act to shear off the unwanted heights of the asperities, while the recesses enable pressure differentials and air flows to direct the separated particulates outwardly relative to the disc, centripetal forces of rotation bearing the particulates from the disc.

  • Patent number: 5683292
Abstract: An abrasive plate for use with a power sanding device having an abrasive surface for performing abrading applications. The plate includes at least two rows of protrusions. The protrusions in each row have an orientation substantially the same as the other protrusions in the respective row. The protrusions in each row have a bottom edge portion oriented at an angle of from about 45.degree. to about 135.degree. with respect to the bottom edge portions of the protrusions in each adjacent row. By providing an abrasive plate having protrusions with the above-noted orientations, the forces transmitted through the plate between a surface being treated and a power sander will be substantially balanced.

  • Patent number: 5655959
Abstract: Apparatus for providing a sharpened edge on an elongated cutting tool comprising a base member having an elongated slot therein and a pair of elongated sharpening elements each pivotally mounted on the base member at opposite sides of the upper end portion of the slot and extending in crossed relation and intersecting at the slot as a cutting tool is drawn downwardly and outwardly through the slot. Separate counterweights are connected to the upper end portions of each of the sharpening elements to resist their downward pivoting movement as the cutting tool is so drawn through the slot. Separate eccentrically mounted cams are disposed between each cutting tool and its axis of pivot to adjustably control the extent of swinging movement of each of the sharpening elements in both directions.
