Along Roof Ridge Patents (Class 454/365)
  • Patent number: 5095810
Abstract: A ridge vent for covering the opening at the peak of a roof. The ridge vent is composed of a first panel portion joined to a second panel portion to form a generally inverted V-shaped web portion which fits over the peak of the roof. The web portion has an interior surface on which a plurality of V-shaped baffles are disposed to support the vent on the roof. The baffles are disposed in an overlapping pattern to resist rain and snow from entering the building. The ridge vent also has ventilation ribs with openings therebetween the ribs extending downwardly from each side of the web portion to allow passage of air into and out of the openings. An angled flange is provided at either side of the ridge vent to deflect air upwardly and over the roof and to create negative air pressure. Alignment tabs and flaps are provided to connect contiguous vent panels together along a roof peak. Nail holes are provided for securing the vent panels to the roof.

  • Patent number: 5094041
Abstract: A ridge peak roof ventilator comprising a pair of vent parts disposed on opposing sides of an opening in a roof peak, and a top panel disposed above and connecting each of the vent parts. The vent parts may be of unitary construction, folded from interconnected panels, or assembled from individual layers of sheet material, and each forms a multiplicity of air passages through which air flows from the interior to the exterior of the roof ventilator. The top panel is constructed from double-faced corrugated plastic having a pair of planar plies and a convoluted intermediate ply. The underside of the top panel is routed along the centerline to form a concave recessed area, thereby cutting away a section of one planar ply and part of the intermediate ply to form oval-shaped openings. Each opening has side walls traversing concave arcuate paths between a maximum height adjacent the side edges of the recesesd area and a minimum height along the centerline.

  • Patent number: 5070771
Abstract: A roof ridge ventilator to be installed under a cap shingle includes a one piece cover member of an elongated shape including a pair of flaps, each flap having one upper surface over which cap shingles are secured and also having downwardly facing lower surfaces, a pair of vents respectively secured to the lower surface of the cover member flaps, each vent including at least one set of shielded louvers having a plurality of openings for deflecting air flow while maintaining a minimum free area for air passage such that the air flowing therethrough is substantially reduced in velocity to limit the infiltration of foreign matter. A plurality of longitudinally spaced supports in each vent extend substantially vertically to permit nailing onto the roof such that the vent does not collapse during installation and such that the net free area remains intact.
