Separate Tuned Circuits For Each Channel Or Station Patents (Class 455/187.1)
  • Patent number: 7746818
Abstract: The present invention provides a single circuit and a method which can identify the WLAN standard of a packet or the modulation type of a packet. The single circuit includes a shift register, N determinators and decision logic. The shift register is configured to receive several periods of the preamble of the packet. Each of the N determinators is configured to determine whether the WLAN standard, or the modulation type, of the packet matches one of the N WLAN standards, or the N modulation types. Decision logic is configured to decide the WLAN standard, or the modulation type, of the packet.

Abstract: Dedicated pilot signals are transmitted from a transmitting device to a receiving device through a multicarrier MIMO channel in addition to data signals and common pilot signals. The dedicated pilot signals may be used by the receiving device to validate whether a predetermined beamforming matrix (i.e., a beamforming matrix identified by the receiving device) was used by the transmitting device to precode the transmitted data. If a different beamforming matrix was used for the preceding, the receiving device may use this matrix to demodulate the received data.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a mobile communication device that includes automatic gain control (AGC) circuitry and operates in either a tracking mode or an acquisition mode. A received signal is sampled n times to calculate an energy estimate that is used to set the gain control values within the AGC circuitry. The value of n varies depending on whether the handset is operating in the acquisition mode or the tracking mode. Acquisition mode is typically considered to be the mode prior to coarse timing acquisition, also referred to as frame acquisition.

Abstract: Tuners with high input impedance are connected to a common radio frequency (RF) signal source. A termination load external to the tuners provides matched impedance loading for the transmission line or cable driving the tuners. Alternatively, the termination load can be located inside one tuner with a switch to enable or disable the load. All tuners receive the same signal and no signal degradation is caused when connecting multiple tuners. The multiple tuner connection is useful in television signal receiving devices that receive more than one independent channel, such as digital video recorders or picture-in-picture television receivers.

Abstract: For carrier growth planning in a wireless network, one or more airlink data transfer performance indicators are measured for a plurality of wireless units at a number of different times. The performance indicators may include user perceived throughput (UPT) and transmission latency or delay, as relating to batch or burst data transfers. Typically, the performance indicators are measured as a function of airlink loading, such as percentage of busy slots. After one or more optional statistical procedures, such as averaging, the performance indicators are compared to one or more performance criterion. In the case of UPT, for example, the performance criteria may be a set or range of minimum desired UPT values, for different loading levels, as established by the service provider. If the performance indicators meet the criteria, this indicates against adding airlink bandwidth in an effort to improve performance. Otherwise, increased airlink bandwidth may be warranted.

Abstract: A bit rate processor in a wireless system includes a front end processor to process physical channel data and to generate encoded transport channel data, a transport channel buffer to hold the encoded transport channel data, and a back end processor to process the encoded transport channel data from the transport channel buffer and to generate decoded transport channel bits. The front end process may include a frame buffer that receives the physical channel data, a first stage to de-map the physical channel data from the frame buffer, an intermediate frame buffer that receives the de-mapped physical channel data from the first stage, and a second stage to process the de-mapped physical channel data and to provide the encoded transport channel data.

Abstract: Methods and systems for wireless communication are disclosed herein and may include sampling a portion of a transmitted wireless signal which gets coupled to receiver circuitry in a receive chain during transmission via an antenna. The DC level corresponding to the sampled portion of the transmitted wireless signal may be measured. The transmit power corresponding to the transmitted wireless signal may be adjusted based on the measured DC level. The antenna may include a mobile antenna, which may be coupled to a wireless terminal. The sampled portion of the transmitted wireless signal may be buffered. The buffered portion of the transmitted wireless signal may be multiplied with the transmitted wireless signal to generate a multiplied signal, and the DC level may be measured using the multiplied signal. A control signal may be generated based on the measured DC level and, for example, a look-up table.

Abstract: An embedded antenna used in mobile phone includes a lower and a higher frequency portions connecting with the lower frequency portion via a first connecting portion. The lower frequency portion is a bended structure in planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) shape. The higher frequency portion is a loop antenna working in two different higher frequencies, including a first higher frequency portion and a second higher frequency portion connecting with the first one via a second connecting portion. The first connecting portion defines a feeding portion and a grounding portion. The second higher frequency portion defines another grounding portion. An electric current is formed between the first and the second higher frequency portions and can heighten the gain and the frequency band of the antenna. Additionally, a loudspeaker is disposed in a receiving space formed between the lower and higher frequency portions to save space with lowest influence to the antenna.

Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for utilizing a diplexer/duplexer for WCDMA operation as a filter for supporting GSM-based operation are provided. A receiver portion of a wireless device may receive WCDMA signals and GSM signals via at least one duplexer or diplexer. The duplexers may enable bandpass filtering of received GSM signals. The wireless device may enable receiving the WCDMA signals and the GSM signals via a single antenna coupled to the duplexers. The receiver portion may also enable selecting a processing path for received WCDMA signals or a processing path for received GSM signals. The receiver portion may enable amplification and filtering of the WCDMA signals. Filtering of the WCDMA signals may be performed via surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters. The receiver portion may also enable filtering of the GSM signals via the duplexers and amplification of the filtered GSM signals.

Abstract: A method and system of communicating between a wireless network and a process control system communicatively coupled to a server via a process control system interface, such as OPC or a proprietary API. The wireless network may be a mesh network and the server may be a mesh server. The server receives data from the wireless network, where the data is generated from an input/output data point within the wireless network. The server maps the data between the input/output data point and a data point placeholder within the process control system. The server writes the mapped data to the corresponding data point placeholder of the process control system via the process control interface, and the mapped data is provided to the process control system as process control data native to the process control system.

Abstract: A system and method for collaboratively designing optimized beamforming vectors is disclosed for a wireless multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) space division multiple access (SDMA) communication system to optimize an aggregate SNR performance metric across the different users, thereby permitting the flexibility to trade off computational requirements and size of control information exchanged with performance. Using adaptive vector space search methods, the space of all receive beamformers is searched to find the set which maximizes either the sum or product of SNRs of the users.
